    The anime / manga thread

https://www.radiotimes.com/tv/fantasy/anime/solo-leveling-crunchyroll-anime-awards-2025-newsupdate/ Frieren, The Apothecary Diaries, and another anime I watched over the last year, Solo Leveling, all got awards at the 2025 edition of the Crunchyroll Anime Awards. Solo Leveling got the most of...

    Baldur's Gate III News

Figured I'd share some player statistics about BG3 vs Elden Ring vs Diablo 4 playtime on Steam. https://alineaanalytics.com/blog/elden-ring/ How does Elden Ring’s playtime distribution compare to other time-sink RPGs? While Elden Ring’s playtime distribution is impressive, let’s not look at...

BG3 Honour Mode: strategy & tactics (many spoilers)

Hmm, I think that gith fight is one of the hardest in Act 1, unless you're overlevelled for it. I'm not sure how you can beat them with this beeline style.

    The Core of Diablo

The actual skill of a hardcore player is to be able to find and discuss lore inconsistencies in Diablo. ☕ I'm not able to find anything about this in online discussions. It's indeed funny about the RNG punishing you for bashing the Paladin class before. A great update, as always!

    Kingdom Come: Deliverance 1&2

My current theory is WarHorse is working on an announced Hans Capon DLC. Not the wedding DLC everyone is talking about, but a first-person Hans offshoot similar to Theresa in KCD1. In a recent interview, Daniel said he's not working on KCD 3 currently. In the same interview, he maneuvered...

Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader & now also Warhammer 40,000: Dark Heresy - a new cRPG from Owlcat Games

Owlcat has just revealed a new game in Warhammer 40,000 Universe - Warhammer 40,000: Dark Heresy

    Games you're looking forward to

I would recommend not reading anything before playing. I think part of what made Automata special for many people is that you figure out what's going on at the same time as the main character does. In that sense, going in without any prior knowledge of the world is a plus. NieR Automata's...

    Games you're looking forward to

NieR is that, and much more. And it will keep going, surprising you again, even if you thought you'd already seen all (e.g. after completing the first run, and then the second run...) If only they announced a sequel, I'd be wishlisting it the very minute of it.

    Industry News / Upcoming Games

An interesting quote from Mike Kayatta, game director of Remedy’s upcoming FBC: Firebreak, about games released at a lower price point than we’ve come to expect (aka less than $60 USD) and becoming popular: “I read somebody describe this recently in a very eloquent way as game developers...

The Dao of DA:O - playing blind

Well, a 3/5 is already better than a 0/5, so there is that. DA:O was being written when the Game of Thrones show didn't exist. Gaider was inspired by the actual books by Martin, so you can find a lot of similar approaches (the Knight Commander etc). The whole Grey Warden code of conduct. Back...

    The Witcher series

Happy 10-year anniversary to The Witcher 3! It feels a bit unreal that it's been 10 years since TW3 release. I played it in 2016, so a year+ later than the release of the game, and essentially, it became the first of my "new" games, starting the whole habit of playing new games (before that...

The Dao of DA:O - playing blind

I agree with Belgarath. You've given it a fair chance, but it is not working; it's ok. I wouldn't be able to imagine what it's like to play DA:O in 2025 blind. For me, it has always come in some context. The context being 2009 and DA:O being the game closest to the games I liked the most, the...

The Dao of DA:O - playing blind

Huh, I wonder if Morgana the character (Morgan le Fay) actually influenced Gaider's decision to name her Morrigan. Probably? It's so fun to read your thoughts on the events, the hints, and what you think about the characters. Morrigan & Alistair banter will continue. If you're worried if it'll...

    Industry News / Upcoming Games

There is a new article from Jason Schreier highlighting the issues of getting investments for medium games. For the last two years, video-game developers across the world have been running into the same problem: Funding has dried up. With growth flat and interest rates high, investors and...

Heroes of Might and Magic games

The game hasn't even launched in Early Access yet, but the dev team has already introduced changes based on the feedback they had received. They redesigned the Temple town screen and the adventure model, and redid the Angels model to match the world of Enroth better. They have added colour...

Do you think about gameplay loops as much as I do?

The game I mentioned, Kenshi, is currently on a good sale on Steam (70% off). Looking at your frustrations with BG and DA:O, I think probably a sandbox like that could be a cure...

The Dao of DA:O - playing blind

Well, again, even if your opinions are a bit controversial, you're not far from being right. Turn-based mode won over any RtwP variants, period, and it happened over the last 5 years. Pillars of Eternity, Pathfinder games, they all added TB, and it became more popular among fans. And, of course...

BG3 Honour Mode: strategy & tactics (many spoilers)

Wow, you really accelerated there. It's amazing how a low-level character could reach Act 2 that smoothly. Too bad it didn't work out but I guess it would have happened sooner or later, as this game is balanced for having ~equal levels for your party and enemies.
