Brief list of obstacles, may not be this way in every locality.
They told me to take the QR code to a purolator station and the fine folks at purolater would return it for me. Take it to purolator, turns out not every purolator station does it. There are the purolator pick up/drop off locations, and then there are the purolator depots, and you need a proper purolator depot to return an amazon package.
Second obstacle, they tell you that you have a month to return this thing. I dropped off the package at the purolator depot around the 2 week mark. It took 10 days before they'd finished doing whatever they needed to do for Amazon to register that I'd dropped it off. Like literally right now their return tracking says I dropped it off on October Third when I dropped it off on the 23rd of last month. So they say you have a month to drop it off but really you probably don't wanna cut it too close to the wire there.
They refunded the full cost of the game. They do not refund the taxes on the game. Government's already gotten their beak wet, that money's gone. They also do not refund the shipping cost if you're returning an item due to user error, but I had the free amazon prime shipping, so that didn't matter. I spent $80 on this game and I'm getting $70 back. Overall a smashing success and a wonderful learning opportunity. I'm happy I took your advice.
