Any of you ever resell videogames?

Couldn't find my copy of Etrian Odyssey 5. Ordered a new one online. Found my old copy. Amazon says it's too late to cancel. So now I guess I'm out some money and have an extra copy.

I think these things sell decently on the secondary market but I'm not sure what channels I would go through to do that.

If it's Amazon, can't you just return it if unopened? Or do you mean you have received and it's too late for refund, not just to cancel the order before delivery?

I don't resell games as I play on PC and have no physical copy, just Steam and the like, but I've bought games for Nintendo for the kids repeatedly on ebay so I suppose that would be my first choice to sell too. Unless you have a national/regional online marketplace thing for private people to sell second hand stuff, we have one in my corner of the universe and games seem to sell well.

Amazon seems to be indicating I could return it, but I've never sent a package through the postal office before, and am nervous about doing it for the first time.

I guess maybe if I just explain the situation to the post office worker the situation they'd walk me though it. I'm probably not the first person they've needed to do that for.

Usually if you sign into your Amazon account, it's explained there. You can access your purchase history, select the item and choose the option to return it. In my case, it usually gives me the option to either print out a barcode label with address etc to stick on the parcel and just hand it in at the post office, or to download a barcode to your phone to let them scan it at the post office when you don't have a printer.

Never sold a game and have no idea how to do it. I tend to buy on sales mostly nowadays so it's not so much money spent. Just my dusty, unused copy of PF WOTR. That one I wouldn't mind selling if I knew how to.

The game has successfully been returned!

Brief list of obstacles, may not be this way in every locality.

They told me to take the QR code to a purolator station and the fine folks at purolater would return it for me. Take it to purolator, turns out not every purolator station does it. There are the purolator pick up/drop off locations, and then there are the purolator depots, and you need a proper purolator depot to return an amazon package.

Second obstacle, they tell you that you have a month to return this thing. I dropped off the package at the purolator depot around the 2 week mark. It took 10 days before they'd finished doing whatever they needed to do for Amazon to register that I'd dropped it off. Like literally right now their return tracking says I dropped it off on October Third when I dropped it off on the 23rd of last month. So they say you have a month to drop it off but really you probably don't wanna cut it too close to the wire there.

They refunded the full cost of the game. They do not refund the taxes on the game. Government's already gotten their beak wet, that money's gone. They also do not refund the shipping cost if you're returning an item due to user error, but I had the free amazon prime shipping, so that didn't matter. I spent $80 on this game and I'm getting $70 back. Overall a smashing success and a wonderful learning opportunity. I'm happy I took your advice.
