Companion Character Concepts

So, I was once again playing through Dragon Age Origins for the umpteenth time, and I had a thought. Actually, I’ve been thinking this same thing every time I played the game at least once: how cool would it be to have a tranquil companion in a Dragon Age game? It never happened, of course, and there’s likely to be a perfectly reasonable explanation as to why, but no matter how many times I play this game I still end up wanting to see it once in a future Dragon Age game. Like a former mage becoming a warrior or rogue with a cold, efficient sense for tactics and battle. But, alas, I fear that my dream shall ever be just that.

But that’s enough about my sob story. What are some of the cool concepts that all of you have for potential recruitable characters in games, present or future?

A tranquil who is trying to recover their magical powers would be interesting to see...

I like to play unexpected characters. A good example would be Mass Effect Andromeda's well-mannered calm and gentle Krogan scientist...

I would have liked a Hanar, Volus or Elcor companion in the new Mass Effect game. Even a Batarian or a Vorcha would be be interesting.

I also think that elder companions are something that would be cool to see more in games. And make them a bit different than a "wise and knowledgeable" tutor profile. Think about Dr. Kureha from One Piece, Captain Dola-Laputa from Castle in the Sky or Chiyo from Naruto Shippūden.

It all depends on the VO, though. I've learned recently that Mark Meer voiced all the Hanar (!) and Vorcha, and several Volus in the Mass Effect games. So a Volus companion voiced my Mark would be great.

What exactly is so unexpected about a well-mannered, calm and gentle Krogan scientist?!

I agree with the comments above. More diversity in the literal sense of the word would be nice. Not only the species or age groups that can be sold as exotic or attractive to the average human. A real pick from what the society or world of the game has to offer.
Although I would maybe find it exhausting to listen to fully voiced long dialogues with a Volus companion for a long time. I always feel the urge to offer them an asthma spray.
Besides every Krogan we meet up to that point being a battle fanatic that thinks murdering others is glorious? :)
