I am planning on dual classing a Berserker to Cleric dual wielding flails.

I have the choice of having **** in flails and *** in dual wielding or ***** in flails and ** in dual wielding.

I'm wondering which is better.

I reached level 9 and took the 5 proficiency points in the Black Pits.
The problem then is that I reach the Black Pits experience cap (600,000) before I get back my fighting abilities. :( 100,000 experience needed. :(
At least she is a good cleric of level 9.

I can see why some would choose to dual-class at level 8.

Ah... it's Black Pits. Never played it, but in general, if you've got a 600,000 exp cap, you're better off dual-classing at level seven. Level seven is where you get that extra 1/2 attack, and you'll get your fighting abilities back much sooner. Also, the Holy Power spell will give you the THACO of a fighter of the cleric's level anyway (albeit temporarily).

I didn't get my fighting abilities back until I reached Candlekeep. That's OK. I didn't need them in Black Pits. I'll be a bit overpowered at the start of BG1, but will reach the experience cap there before long no doubt. I'm considering soloing the various characters who survived the Black Pits.

The Black Pits is worth trying out, but probably only for a few games. Going with a smaller party might make it more challenging.
You don't need to nursemaid your mages as they get restored after every round.
