Finch's glasses not working.

I have just been making a fresh installation and have found that Finch's glasses won't identify items.
I Googled the problem and discovered that there is a thread on the subject on Beamdog. Sadly, no Beamdog. :(
I am wondering if anyone here knows how to fix the problem.

There could be several problems with this that I can foresee... It could either be that the item file itself has some errors in it, or someone forgot to add it to the itemspec.2da file. It would be hard for me to troubleshoot this without downloading the mod myself (which I don't really want to do), or at the very least having access to the aforementioned files from your install. If you can find both the item file and itemspec.2da in your override folder and upload them here, I suppose I could take a look to see what I could find...

You may also want to check to see if you have the latest version of the mod first.

I do have the most up to date mod version 6. I have looked at the files.
I have found that the name of the file for the glasses in the Finch items file is misc3p.itm.
However upon opening the Finch cre file in keeper, the name of the glasses is sumisc.itm

That looks highly suspicious!!

I couldn't find file itemspec.2da.
However in the override file there is file item_use.2da. Is that the file that you need?
I have changed the extension to txt as 2da files are not accepted by the forum. No mention of either misc3p.itm or sumisc.itm there!

I am wondering if using keeper to change the file in the Finch cre file to misc3p.itm would work, either that or change the file name in the Finch items folder to sumisc.itm and/or putting that file in the override folder.

In Finch version 5.2 the glasses were changed to sumisc.itm
However in version 6 they are back to misc.itm

I have looked at the above page and sure enough the glasses don't work anymore.
Correcting them seems to be currently impossible. Since I have the Aerie mod installed it isn't a big deal. Perhaps I should just use keeper to give her a decent helm instead. Perhaps helmet of defence, helmet of charm protection or similar, or just remove the glasses so that she can at least wear a helm.

I am thinking that creating a helm that improves lore might be the solution.

Thanks for the offer of help. At least I no longer feel like an idiot!!

P.s. For future reference where would one expect to find the itemspec.2da file?

Thankee kindly sir! That solved the problem. I'm wondering why the mod author didn't do that.
Party now consists of four clerics and Imoen the thief.
Two clerics that I started with plus Gavin and Finch.
Branwen and Tenya will rerplace Imoen which will make it an all cleric party, all Neutral or Good.
Having 100% clerics could be challenging but interesting.
A shame that Finch doesn't have a kit though.

I have recently discovered that the author changed the name on the specs to avoid conflict with another mod, "The secret of Bonehill, and it was this that caused the problems.

However, The secret of Bonehill isn't being maintained and Roxanne's attempt to resurrect it seem to have failed so perhaps Finch needs to go back to the way that she was.
