Funny mistakes you've made in games

Hi all,

I hope everyone is doing well. Due to RL, I have not been gaming or on social media much, but I did start a game of BG fairly recently, which I'm chipping away at. And I just discovered that I did a really silly thing: I lost a set of full plate armour (the set you get at the bandit camp). 😂

My playthrough was partially based around it, as I did a bee-line to the Cloakwood so I could do a run with Yeslick. I had the ankheg armour for him initially, but I wanted to hold the plate for him until I could get a strength item (big-fisted belt). Anyways, I was doing an inventory sale and cleanup when I discovered the plate armour is gone. I checked every shop I frequent to see if I'd sold it accidentally, but nothing. Ditto for storage containers I use at various places on the map. I must have dropped it some how, but I'll never know.

It got me thinking to other dumb mistakes I've made in all games (and there have been plenty), and I thought this could be a fun topic. I'd love to hear your stories about silly things you've done.

Best,
~O

Good story.
At the time Baldur's Gate 2 came out it was the center piece of Store. But I kept coming back to this game called Deus Ex. I had enough money saved up for one of them and went with Deus Ex and had a blast until...

I got to the very last zone, (it's a long game and if you incidentally want to try it get 'Deus Ex' revision mod) and guess what happened?

I got trapped in a vent. I ran out of bullets. And my save game was from a day earlier.
So there I lay. Impotent useless with a bunch of alien chicken surrounding me. Maybe I'll pick it up again someday.

:) good thread.

It was my first Baldur's Gate 2 playthrough. I was struggling. Jaheira, the spiritual leader of our squad, had fallen. We desperately needed to raise her, but we didn't have the coin. What to do?

With no other options, we sold our much needed gear. It would send us back to square one, but at least our team would be whole again.

Alas, I chose the temple in Waukeen's Promenade and unbeknownst to me Habib was scheduled to arrive. The instant Jaheira was raised, Habib burst in, tossed his coin, and killed her instantly.

Cruel fate...

During a tabletop game, we were talking to the town mayor, who had a very stuck-up personality and always gave us fetch quests. Off character, I say to another player:

"Great, another fetch quest from this jerk."

The DM, who had warned us that anything we said off character would be taken as in-character, says "What did you call me, you lowlife peasant?"

Realizing my mistake, but not wanting to back down, I reply: "I called you a jerk, and..."

Another player signals me to shut up, but I don't feel like it, so I continue: "...and once we find the magical ring that you lost, you can shove it up your ass."

The town mayor then ordered the guards to escort us out, a fight ensued (I started it, of course), and the guards beat us up and threw us in jail. We got out the next day after promising that we'd find that damn ring and that we'd accept half of the payment for completing our task.

The funniest mistakes I make usually lead to me falling or jumping off a ledge to my death, but funniest among those deaths was the most recent playthrough of Dragon’s Dogma, when I tried to lure an ogre off a cliff, but ended up getting myself drop kicked off instead. The ogre still fell, because ledges are the worst enemy of large monsters in that game, but it was all for naught as my character also sailed into the void.

I played Skyrim for about a total of ..80 hours. at one point i was 30 hours in had a horse and went off a 10 foot cliff expecting my horse would be ok and it died. I was like well I'm done. besides i like 'making new characters'

Baldur's Gate II. I found a scroll of Incendiary Cloud and decided I would use it in the fight with Aran Linvail & Co. (I was siding with Bodhi.) The party arrived at Aran's chamber, opened the door, and I cast Incendiary Cloud into the room. Aran responded with Fear, and Charname panicked, ran straight into his own incendiary cloud, and died.
