Any Fallout not made by Bethesda.
There are recent rumours that Fallout: New Vegas 2 is in early talks at Microsoft. Specifically, according to well-known industry insider Jeff Grubb, the two words being thrown around are “Fallout: New Vegas 2” and “Obsidian.” There is allegedly a lot of interest in making this happen, but again, this is still early.

I'd like to see a new game inspired by old classics like Might & Magic, of good quality, and a good version of modern Heroes of Might & Magic.

Lots of games excel in a particular area.

I used to fantasize about a game that would combine the in depth systems from one game's area of expertise, with the in depth systems from another game's specialization.

Like for example, Rune Factory is a farming game with a mild dungeon diving component. But what if you had a game like Run Factory, and all the farming is the same, but once you get into the dungeons it's Etrian Odyssey.

Of course, you couldn't do it. There's a finite amount of time/money that can go into making these games before it fucks with their profit margin. The more systems you introduce, the more you have to divide up those resources.

And pragmatically the value of such a game would be questionable. If a game can do one thing well, then you can simply play it when you want to do that thing, and play something else when you want to do something else. Tying these disparate experiences to eachother risks creating a product that's off putting to people who only like one or the other, not both.

But they were still some pretty nice daydreams.

Everytime I play Total War games I miss the strategic/diplomacy and map from Europa Universalis. Everytime I play EU I miss the battles from TW. Everytime I play Bannerlords I miss the maps, diplomacy and larger and slower scale battles from Total war.

Basiscally what game I would want to have is a mix of the three, though mixing these three components probably means CK rather than EU from Paradox would be a better fit, but I have never played crusader kings so don't know for sure.

I've read there are ppl modding these things, I think it was total war that moved into Bannerlord battles once a battle was initiated. But each game has it's own strenghts the other two cannot match. Bannerlord having the RPG aspect where you are an actual person/character, EU has the massive map with many regions instead of ie TW's empty map with so few cities and regions but the battles are just RNG ad nauseum, but when it comes to large scale battles of course TW is king.

So that would be my dream game ever.

I saw a video recently that made me remember another game I'd buy immediately. Majesty 3. I love the old Majesty games and the fact your kingdom will develop on its own and that you can influence the heroes but not give them direct orders. Majesty II was a hellish hard game, I really preferred Majesty I.

I want another Battletech or MechCommander game. HBS’ Battletech was made almost five years ago, already, and nobody’s touched MechCommander since FASA went under.

I think a game with 2018 Battletech’s mech and ship customization, combined with MechCommander’s pilots would be nice. I’m on the fence regarding whether I prefer the RTS-style gameplay of MechCommander or the turn-based style of Battletech, so I could honestly go either way on that. As for which era the game should cover…I don’t know. I’m not a big Battletech lore nerd, I just need my giant robots blowing things up.

If you get that rich, can you, please, buy Hasbro and have a 2nd Edition Darksun game made? Thanks. :)
Buying Hasbro will be my first order of business (since Twitter has been taken). But don't worry: I won't purge half the staff and force the rest to go 'hard core.' There will be Ravenloft and Dark Sun for all! Now: how to get that rich... hmm... Feel free to start a crowd fund for me?

I have been thinking again what I would like to see made, and I can only say some really vague.

I would love to see a game that gives me new experiences and emotions and challenges and that is NOT something that's either from the looks or advertisement "a sequel to this" or "the spiritual successor of that" or nostalgic homage to yet another classic or "for true fans of..." or a game where you see the visuals and it immediately reminds you of a popular genre in which a major success has been released lately.

I'm not judging or criticising the wish for something familiar. Companies need to earn money, players want to be fairly certain they spend it on something they will like.

But just for a moment, let me daydream:
Take the risk of not mixing up known recipes. Create something unique or at least rare, that doesn't immediately and obviously cater to some nostalgia. Introduce a mechanic I haven't seen in a while or ever, and/or an unusual setting, something that doesn't fit with 70% of the most popular Steam tags, and let me experience it and be surprised.

Very unspecific, I know. Fortunately my gaming history isn't as broad and deep as that of several others here, so that goal is most likely still achievable with a few games I have in my library already ;)

But still, generally speaking, I hope so much that some creative people will keep daring to go the unconventional way.
I feel you on this one...

I've been toying around with the idea of maybe building out said dream game...hear me out:
The core gameplay loop is a turn-based tactics game (nothing new there) but the layer I want to add on is having the player decide what information is worth acting on. Right now, games will give you a mission (kill this boss, escort this VIP) and there isn't a lot of fuzziness with respect to what you have to do.

What I feel might be fun is to introduce a layer of fuzziness to those missions by having players decide whether the intel they are getting about a particular target is reliable. So it isn't just kill this boss, but it is "kill this boss who is XX% likely to be here" sort of thing. At the same time, I want to see if there is way to have the players discover other objectives while they are on the map, so even if they go on a low percentage mission, they might discover something else to further their campaign (i.e., a piece of intel on some other key VIP).

(please ask questions as I'm not sure this is making sense...first time I'm trying to verbalize this)

In my head, this all comes together as a hybrid between Shadow of Mordor's army/nemesis strategic system (which I LOVED) paired with an XCOM-like turn-based tactics game. I know it isn't totally unique, but it IS a combination that hasn't been done before, as far as I know.

Yeah, I can picture what you're talking about.

In the Fire Emblem games they'll sometimes have some conversations that can take place during the battle screen. Very basic interactions like "Oh hey, that dude looks llke somebody we could recruit. Get next to him and press the chat button and he'll join your team.".

You'd basically want to flesh that out into more complex interactions that can send you down branching story pathways. Like maybe you have some idea grabbing this device, or unmasking the enemy leader would both be good ideas. There's one guy who can tell you where the device is, and one guy who can tell you where the enemy leader is, but due to the strictures of the map capturing either one would require allowing the other to escape, and maybe both of these are actually bonus missions, with your primary objective being to just kill X% of this squad so they can't ambush a diplomat who's going to be coming down this road later.

Tried out a copy of Gamedec I got on Epic some time ago and though I only played a short while in the first mission, I would say it's non-linear and unconventional approach to the "quest" was very cool. You are a detective, you get clues in dialogues and have to chose the right dialogue choices to make them open up and reveal more details etc. It was very innovative and could probably be used in other settings as well, fantasy or whatever.
