Is there a character/line/frequency limit for posts?

I'm working out a play log for Icewind Dale that I plan to post, and have an idea as to how to break it up. However, I want to make sure the chunks are appropriately sized (and formatted before I copy/paste them over). So, is there some kind of limit to consider per post?

As for the frequency limit, if I were to post a few chunks in rapid succession, would the forum think I was a spambot? :)

I'm glad you getting ready to share. I enjoy write ups of IE engine games, and I know others do too :)

I'm not sure about character limits. There is a limit of 30 screenshots per post, and each screenshot must be less than 3mb.The norm is to place images in spoiler tags, to facilitate page loading. Converting large png screenshots to the more economical jpeg format is appreciated.

NW: If you intend to post an entire run at once, retrospectively, I'd encourage you to create a dedicated thread for your run. The Annex thread is setup for runs published in segments, as the run is ongoing. In any case, I'm looking forward to reading you run!

I'm not sure I'll do it all in one clip, but likely one chapter at a time. I'm leaning towards it's own thread due to my own log format for this. My thought is to create a bunch of "placeholder" posts in succession, then fill them in as the run continues. It's easy to plot out if I have an idea of a post's maximum limit.

Yes, there is a character limit per post, @Antimatter can tell you how much.

And while sometimes one person or another who have been following a thread closely have made friendly requests of putting pictures in spoiler tags, because it affects their loading times, it is not a requirement.
Sometimes a post just looks better when some screenshots are visible. Of course if someone, like the no-reloaders often do, documents the tactical steps of a single fight with 15 screenshots in a row, spoiler tags could help.
You don't need to convert png to jpg either, unless it is to reduce the file size to get below the 3MB per picture limit.

I wouldn't recommend using placeholder posts and filling them in, because the forum sorts the threads by recently posted and that's how most people check for new content. If you create a thread with 20 placeholder posts and then start filling them in one by one with edits over time, your thread won't be showing up in the queue as having been updated recently and you won't get any views.

Maximum post length is 10000 characters. Any draft can be saved for 120 hours. The minimum time between messages is 30 seconds. You won't be considered a spambot for posting frequently.

Overall, @JustKneller - don't think about restrictions, think about possibilities. Post when and how you personally would like. Everything else is just a recommendation, not a rule.
