Maybe I can't compare because it's my first playthrough, but I don't get the feeling that bard is a lesser choice, it's just different. I switched from College of Lore to College of Swords to have more non-spell options, but I've been having fun with both subclasses.

College of Swords gets less spells but the Flourishes have been very useful so far, and at level 5 or 6 I received an extra attack, which is really great with dual wielding, and some Cloud of Daggers goes nicely with that.

Your Sorc/Bard looks great! And a special fun bonus goes to you for placing a silly hat between Wyll's horns

Yeah it's kinda of a blast. I tried twinned dissonant whispers like Frampton Comes Alive, to make em feel like I do, while Lae'zel and Karlach just wrecked the room hehe.

Plus I get this chaos randomness angle which has been entertaining. Healing word and bardic inspiration with the Alfira hat has been pretty useful at keeping the gang on their feet too. I remember finding an amulet that did the same, but it's cool to just have the spell, cause this is my first run without Shadowheart to do the heavy lifting on heals. So far I haven't missed her, she's kinda guiding bolt all day anyway for me when she's around. Here I'm doing more of the fancy footwork and trying to keep up with Karlach's two step lol. Not sure when it's best to take the second level in bard, but probably not till I get counterspell I think. I did find that having the ASI to look forward too was kinda nice as well, cause everyone else got theirs at the same time, so this has got a little stagger to it that I'm diggin'

Also this is the first time I had Wyll in the party during Act I when...

doing Waukeen's Rest. Florrick didn't mention anything about his strange new appearance, so maybe his hat trick worked after all lol!

Mizora came pretty early, cause the Hunt for Karlach was my first move. After that scene I feel like we made the right call bringing the devils along for the ride this time.

This was unclear to me too, also because I read some stuff somewhere about multiclassing spellcasters that seemed to suggest there might be some kinks still, like there where the spells are all treated the same way regardless of class/source. I kind figured these would be less likely for a lvl1 dip though. For metamagic you can definitely use that on whatever spell twinned healing word or tasha's etc, and expending sorc points to restore spell slots for bard spells and such. I'm not sure getting a bonus to short rest is as big a deal here as it would be on paper, cause resting/camping isn't as tough in BG3, but the improvement to counter spell I think could could be good and the power jump from lvl 1 to lvl 2 usually offers some flavor. Delaying the ASI and lvl 3 spells can be kinda tough, but Gith get some nice racial bonuses. Right now she plays basically like a Sorceress, but a bit more reliant on scrolls. Which is fine for me, cause those tend to just stack up anyway. I chose Careful spell initially just cause it sounded sorta Bard-like, but I mostly have been using Twinned and Heighten. Thought about doing extend distance for the misty stepper, so I might reconsider, but so far so good...

We put on some fancy sandals to make Crusher kiss our toes, then wasted the whole Goblin celebration... Burned through maybe half the scrolls and potions I had collected up to that point, which felt very satisfying hehe. More reason to use some of these poison toad poisons and such. Still got it handled.

The fight with Ragz was comedy. Random Chaos magic reduced him to shrimp status, while we topped the charts! lol...

Then finished the job ourselves heheh

Same character but I decided to use the mirror to change her appearance. Being an Asmodeus tiefling I had respected the colours that usually go with it but decided I found the reddish tones too exaggerated in the already quite brightly coloured world, so I went for the bluer tones.
I had something like that when I first created my character but then saw the blue tones were associated with Mephistopheles tieflings.
Now I decided though that since the character already looks a bit odd with many of the overdone clothes/armour and the grimaces in dialogue, I want them at least to have a face that I like, so there she is, more blue than red. I added a pic from the menu screen because it's easier to see than in the other screenshot.

A good feature by the way, to allow us to change the appearance.

I think I like the more "normal" clothes on my character, but at least dyed with a color befitting a bard without being overly flashy. She's a Blade after all, not a jester.

Somebody must have mixed something into our drinks though because otherwise I have no explanation for having talked to a flying little talking elephant who was wearing a monocle and smoking a pipe.
