After E3's fate, there have been worries, but it looks like "Europe's answer to E3" Gamescom 2022 is actually going to happen, on-site and online!

Ticket shop hasn't opened yet, but if the wildcard lottery has already started, that's confirmation enough.

According to the most recent press release on the official Gamescom 2022 website:

Okay found an answer:

https://www.ign.com/articles/summer-game-fest-primarily-focused-already-announced-games

Geoff Keighley advised fans to manage their expectations, because apparently there were some crazy rumors about. He reminds people that Summer Game Fest isn't the Game Awards, and that the show is definitely focused around games that have already been announced.

Fair enough! New announcements are always exciting, but there's usually so much time between announcement and release anyway.

I have no defined expectations, I just want to be entertained and see cool stuff. And Starfield gameplay ;)

To explain a bit about how I feel: I feel like a child in front of a box with gifts. I don't know what the gifts will be, but I'm excited. It's the time of the year I always look forward to: with more than 4 shows, I'm sure we'll see a lot of games announced and showcased. Almost all the games that have already been released (and that even have been played by me)-- I've seen first during similar summer days in previous years.

I hope we'll still see some cool stuff. Summer Game Fest stream yesterday was... well, I don't have much to compare, but I found it rather boring, there were tons of games that I'm not even mildly interested in, and the amount of "headshot, jump scares and gore" kind of games... well let's just say I wasn't thrilled.
Witchfire looked interesting and had nice music in the trailer, but I'm not sure what to think of shooting+magic as a combo, and it's supposed to be a roguelite. We'll see.
Among the Indie games, that climate change strategy survival thing called Highwater looked okay, but again, perhaps only by contrast to the lots of stuff that didn't touch me in the slightest.

Maybe that's harsh, and maybe I didn't go in as free of expectations as I thought, but I seriously hope to see more in the PC Gaming Show and the Bethesda showcase, or I'll be disappointed.

Yes it is, and I'll be there! I hope my disguise will be good enough to pass for human though. Cologne is supposed to be a very open minded city, but a Krogan battlemaster might still make them nervous, even among all those cosplayers.
I'm looking forward to seeing and trying some games, absorbing the atmosphere, and will let you all know how it was!

There will be a few interesting streams next week:

September 6, Cyberpunk 2077: the anime series showcase + patch news

September 8, Yakuza 8: a sneak-peek (btw, I LOVED Yakuza 7, so I'm really looking forward to this one)

September 10, a new Assassin's Creed game (which won't be an open-world RPG)

I'm probably in minority here, but I'm glad new Assassin's Creed won't be an open world rpg. I enjoyed the first few games the most (especially Ezio's Saga). But I know Origins, Odyssey and Valhalla have a lot of fans.
