Good fortune in games

Hi everyone, I just got an amazing roll in BG:

This bit of random luck got me thinking about all the times luck has gone my way in BG and other games. I'm talking about good stat rolls, battles I miraculously survived while over-matched, or where I played poorly but still won, and other miraculous but utterly lucky feats.

I'd love to hear the stories of others - if you've got 'em, and if you find the subject interesting. It can be BG or any other game. A bad luck thread might be interesting, too.

When I played in a duo tournament in Axis & Allies 1942 Online, our units got extremely lucky on defense. This is an anti-aircraft gun firing three ones. What are the chances they'll roll 1 in each of 3 rolls where they can roll any number from 1 to 6?

I've got plenty of stories where a 96% chance to hit missed, leading to utter chaos for my squad in XCOM
But I still love me some randomness in my games...it's a good way to test your ability to react to things on the fly. All the best laid plans could go south and I like testing myself to see how I would react in these kinds of situations!

One of my soldiers once missed a 98% shot point-blank with a shotgun. Beat that

Well. How about this? 0.02% result for me--it means that I was 99.98% unlucky...

10 attack rolls from my units got 0 hits and my opponent's 8 defending infantry got 6 hits and the anti-aircraft gun hit once (7 hits overall).
