Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous Core Last Azlanti no-reload.

Meet Tabitha the Eldritch Scoundrel. She takes Dodge and Combat Expertise as her first feats.

Rules: No mods, no respects, no protective luck, main character must be melee with a non-reach weapon.

e9hVnPj.png

She has a strange sense of humour. She is a complete weakling who does 1-2 damage (+1d6 sneak).

After being unceremoniously thrown down into the Kenabres Underground she meets Seelah, passing a Knowledge (world) check for a bit of extra XP. She also meets Camellia and the three of them kill some centipedes and giant flys.

Our AB is poor, our damage is poor too! But our AC is ok at 23, once we are not flat-footed. That lets us take down the Monitor Lizard quickly with not much effort or risk.

vhKcpnj.png

Meeting Wenduag and Lann nets us level 2 with Tabitha and Camellia, due to a bit of XP finessing. Seelah will always lag a bit but we can deal with that. And later on it will be a non-issue.

SpfZYFv.png

Tabitha bets her first rogue talent. ES is rogue talent deficient due to the spellcasting, but there are just enough to be ok. She takes Slippery Mind for Dex bonus to saves vs mind effecting.

Camellia takes Iceplant. I'm not planning on using her much after the beginning so its not that big a deal.

We fail a lore (religion) check then turn shared XP back on to pick up the sword, passing a Will check. Tabitha has a strange vision and gains Light of the Angels. This gets Lann and Wenduag Level 2. Finessed.

Lann goes into Drovier immediately and takes Daredevil Boar as his animal - wild. Boar takes Toughness. We give Wenduag WF)longbow) since she is not going to be with us for long.

We fight some small Earth Elementals and the Boar immediately eats two unconfirmed crits. Nice. We kill the last few enemies and move to Neatholm.

PLjmS2T.png

---

We take the Lann route - Tabitha finds Wenduag too untrustworthy. This nets Seelah level 2. The only change is giving her a point in UMD. We fail the Horgus Gwerm check despite only needing a 6 or higher - bye bye extra gold.

Tabitha hoovers up everything not nailed down and sells it back to Dyra. That's it for part 1.

Tabitha the Eldritch Scoundrel - Part 2

A little bit of Mage Armor for Tabitha and the Boar see the 2nd Monitor Lizard killed. Giant flies manage to roll 3 critical hits againstthe boar. the Dice are really going for it today.

Tabitha and pals clear out the first two rooms of the Shield Maze with a bit of poor planning. She passes a Lore (religion check), grabs the items then clears out the hall and the side room with the single champion. We still need 500XP for level 3, oof. Heading downstairs tabitha pushes her luck just a little bit more killing the two easy groups of mongrels before heading for a nap. Dealing with a spider ambush Tabitha re-freshed her buffs and headed back downstairs.

hTPJAqZ.png

D3a4i2t.png

Hand of Hosilla the First proves to be no challenge. Tabitha then heads to fight the tough Mongrel Brute - the Boar eats a hit or two but Seelah gets a 55HP crit in with a glaive which slices it into pieces, followed by a second for 47... wow. This is the crits-galore run today. Ring of Deflection +1 raises tabitha's AC nicely.

hxxThv2.png

2OKOfek.png

Back upstairs the dormitory was cleared and then the Cultist Champion + Wizard. The champion decided to start chasing Lann around which Tabitha found quite funny. At lastthis nets Tabitha, Lann and Camellia level 3. Phew.

udR6rwn.png

Tabitha takes exotic weapon proficiency (elven curved blade) and Finesse training (ECB) - I know, I've been trying to work something out with this weapon for ages and what better than a Last Azlanti run to try it out. Just need to get hold of Finnean now.

uUoA8h7.png

Camellia gets WF(rapier) and access to level 2 spells. Lann takes level 2 of Zen Archer and Boon Companion, Precise Shot and Way of the Longbow, and the Boar gets Light Barding - Stupid Armoured Boar playthrough.

Next they clear the church room, and move to kill Hand of Hosilla the Second. This doesn't go quite according to plan since I forgot about Fear. The boar runs away. Fortunately level 3 is enough to kill them quite fast. Nothing but tough enemies left now.

3lUdfQg.png

A quick rest then challenging the first batch of Cambions. Taking no chances we go fully buffed. Easy - a composite longbow for Lann and Half-plate for Seelah. Downstairs more Cambions become cambion chunks and we claim Radiance. With the last few seconds of our buffs Tabitha then challenges the Earth Elementals for a clean sweep. And that is enough for now.

Tabitha the Eldritch Scoundrel - Part 3

The Monitor Lizards fell to the Boar and some ranged shots. That scored the Amulet of Natural Armour +1 and a potion of Haste

uuEuaAq.png

With that out of the way there was need for another safety rest - getting out of this dungeon was tough. All ready Tabitha pushed on to the Dretches and Hosilla.

Neither was that much of a worry, though Hosilla with hostile Wenduag is always a bit of a nail-biter since a single Glaive-crit could have ended the whole thing.

PgvE2S4.png

VlaaXth.png

grDzpiS.png

This all netted Seelah level 3. We take Weapon Focus(Longsword) and Mercy(Sickened). She equips Marching Terror for now. Scooping up every item on the map we sell every piece of trash & non-useful gear to Dyra then head back to the Water Elemental and Mongrel Room.

First up, the Mongrel Room - this one is tough. Full buffs and no issues.

SKU18XR.png

Then the Water Elemental. Tabitha took it really careful, adding in Blur. Seelah was going to be the only one capable of doing damage so she drank the potion of Haste and chopped it down while it flailed against the boar.

tVUpkWU.png

D0AP55w.png
---

Tabitha moved upstairs into Grey Garrison. Easy win vs the first and second fights. Marching Terror usefully sends enemies fleeing. I usually dislike this but in these small areas its quire useful. We pass a Lore (religion) check and abuse "collect all" to shift all items upstairs. Then trigger the Minhago fight, passing the Mobility check.

yTw3LPB.png

VG6JQ7T.png

And that's it for part 3 and the Prologue. In the tavern we talk to everyone grab the Charisma Headband +2 for Seelah and sell everything. Seelah fails the 2nd Horgus diplomacy check as well, but that was to be expected. We turn on shared XP for good and get ready to clear the city of demons

Tabitha the Eldritch Scoundrel - Part 4: Act 1 Start

Time to get Finnian. We free Woljif to get level 4 on everyone but Seelah. Woljif gets dex, Lann goes level 3 Zen Archer and takes Wisdom and Point Blank Master with Longbow. Camellia takes Dex and Intimidating Display as her Hex. The Boar gets +1 constitution.

guj8Zpf.png

We collect Finnean but don't do the full quest. Finally, a decent weapon. 1d10+8 +2d6 sneak; 18-20 crit range. What an upgrade.

Travelling to the Market Place - We save Ember and recruit her - level to 4 and take Evil Eye, then clear the South East as far as Hulrun.

Tabitha the Eldritch Scoundrel - Part 5

Tabitha and gang assault the centre of the market square using some CC to make it simple. That allows her to grab the mysterious Midnight Bolt and Unlocks Aeon path + the Purple Stone Dagger + Half-plate+1 for Seelah. Also level 4 on Seelah, hooray. We boost Charisma just because I wanted to try it out.

1jPkMix.png

Next we move and meet Ramien and Ilkes and learn that Desna warned the Desna worshipers about something to do with the Wardstone and the demonic attack. And we pick up the quest to find the other Desnites. At this point I prefer to leave the Market and clear other areas. Everything off the main route through can be very dangerous.

Instead we go to collect Daeran - which triggers the Nenio event. Don't forget to grab the Longsword of Detriment! Points in Lore (religion) pay off and we pick up some small amounts of bonus XP before triggering the fight.

This one is quite tough, 1) because everyone starts out targeting the MC, and 2) Marching Terror can send archers scattering which is real annoying. We make sure not to use it. knowing both of those things it's a massacre. With that done, we don't drop Camellia yet and send Nenio back to base.

B2xwhu8.png

LAQRV50.png

Next up we go to "rescue" Daeran - This whole situation can be quite tough so we buff up. Rightly so - a Dretch poison-clouds us while trying to kill the Schir and we have to make a tactical retreat. It's stupidly chaotic because we can't take out the cambion wizard from behind the stinking cloud. Ember does pull through with a Slumber on both the schir and the cambion so after that its all good. Or so I thought, until the Schir, waking up due to the party guests gets a 43HP crit + disease + con drain on Woljif... No worries, we save him and kill the Schir.

f0QN6gC.png

1sjrqQW.png

Mq5eyMe.png

Daeran replaces the sick and injured Woljif - i'm sure he can get back to the Defenders Heart just fine! Daeran takes Arrow of Law and a charisma boost. He's just going to tide us over until we can get Soseil.

The secret on the side of the stage yields to a perception check so we snag some fortuitous goodies and head to Blackwing Library. Despite having high perception our travelling checks have been dire and we are ambushed for the 5th time out of 5 encounters...

In the library we pass some minor skill checks in conversation and Tabitha unlocks Trickster path. Good. The library also gets us out first Magic Essence and the Quarterstaff of Coercion. Good stuff. And four "skill books" which are
+1 Morale AC vs Dragons (ok)
+1 competence bonus to attack and damage on natural attacks (not very useful here but a great bonus for many characters)
+1 shield bonus to AC vs Demons (I never checked if this stacks with Shields or not)
+1 competence bonus to saves vs swarms (ok)

That's all fine but not amazing with this character. We free the Klaem and the Crusaders and have the Storyteller transport us back to the Tavern.

Tabitha the Eldritch Scoundrel - Part 6

Re-jig some spells, rest, and buy a scroll of Protection from Fire, communal then travel to Tower of Estrod.

Only 2 ambushes on the way there, then Tabitha meets Greybor and we set about preparing for a tough fight. The angelic aspect blessing from not having picked any demonic choices thus far helps with +2AC vs evil and 10 Acid resistance.

We buff up, mostly with Tabitha - whats Last Azlanti without some front line action. A little pre-emptive Fire Resistance and Web too then push a pillar down on the demons. If you do this from Stealth often they won't spot you and you can take a 2nd attack - in this case Stone Call from Nenio. A bit of Slumber of Faxon and everything looks good. Faxon does manage to get off his fireball though but apart from that we slice, dice and fill demons full of arrows.

udkob5M.png

pcFWizP.png

qYZTKi6.png

In a feat of incredible bad luck Tabitha manages to jam the door where Callistra's chainshirt is. Wow, natural 1 it is. Then roll another Natural 1 for our interaction with Teldon turning him hostile. Holy cow I really do seem to be cursed to fail every important check - can't wait to get Soseil to get this fixed. Good job we were not going to be using Camellia any time soon. We do at least manage to get Entrapping Longbow for Lann and the 2nd Magic Essence. This is ll getting quite frustrating at this point.

With no confidence of success we cash in Tower of Estrod, and wanting to push XP further we complete Woljif's quest too. At least his Con drain has worn off. Daeran passes the first check but not the 2nd despite only needing a 5 so no 1500GP or Ring of Sharp Spikes for us. I forgot quite how many early game boosts were gated behind Skill Checks.

I decide to stop playing for now because Last Azlanti on tilt is no good.

Tabitha the Eldritch Scoundrel - Part 6

We still need XP before level 5 so decide to do Camellia's quest with Seelah, Nenio, Daeran and Lann. We get the tough Schir + Succubus ambush but manage to weather it.

Combat goes fine through the house and we clear room by room. Except for the boar getting feared and running in to the upstairs Slayer + ranger combo. We rest and then challenge the double Babaus - ez.

kLX4XoU.png

95pQtln.png

ykFKcFO.png

0aoHOan.png

That all gets everyone but Seelah level 5!

Tabitha takes Crane Style.

LLAXFhs.png

Lann goes Druid from now on, takes Rapid Shot. Daeran gets Spell Focus (Enchantment), Nenio gets Greater Spell Penetration and Camellia gets Fencing Grace for rapier. Excellent.

We loot Horgus's house and finish there for now.

Tabitha the Eldritch Scoundrel - Part 8

Tabitha returns to Market Square - the last things to do before the Tavern Defense are here, and so long as we don't leave we can rest as much as we like. First we complete the Desna quest and recruit Hulrun for Grey Garrison. That gets Seelah level 5. We take Dazzling Display and Divine Weapon bond.

Starte clearing the south west wen the Boar got crit-chunked - whoops. Time for a rest.

tmsVZb6.png

After that we clear the Brimorak house easily for the Signet of Vesparilio and a bit of Iomedae's holy symbol.

1BudwoS.png

Next up was the vermlek + Evocation Wizard fight, which is super tough if not prepared because of how far back the vermleks are and their Inflict Light Wounds, Mass spamming. Lucky I know that some Animate Dead will tie them up while being immune. We hang back then crash in later.

Kj0FPm4.png

We mop upvarious ghoul groups and manage to avoid getting seriously strength drained by shadows - camellia's ghost touch enchantment + Finnean help make this easy. At this point I decide to rest before challenging the Necromancer - an enemy who was significantly buffed in one patch or another.

The Tales of Grim Face & Co - Part 4:

- Failed to spot Dragonleaf Gulch so headed straight to the Ironstone Gully. Killing Primal Giant Spider there brought us to Level 10;
101.jpg
102.jpg
- Had to visit a Capital due to some problem ('Invitation for the Baron') and first time met Skeletal Salesman enroute, though his stock wasn't impressive all too much this time;
- Back in the Capital and "Season of Bloom" begins; 'An Amusement for Nobles' - since it's a hunt we swapped Octavia for Ekun;
103.jpg
104.jpg
105.jpg
106.jpg
107.jpg
108.jpg
109.jpg
- Dire Narlmarches: Saint Galvan's Gullet > Brown Baldhead > (failed to spot Tenacious Marsh) > Swamp Ruins (double max heightened Grease and Amiri with Second Execution while Kitty holding the line did the job vs Ferocious Devourer) > random encounter vs two Bloody Bones Beasts (since we were all exhausted from the last fight both physical and mental this was by far the scariest fight we've ever taken so far. we had to use potions, scrolls, wands - all we had just to make it through. after the fight we made a camp, got another Valerie romance talk, journal updates on 'Nazrielle's Greatest Creation' quest and 'A Task for the Sweet Teeth') > Sunny Hillock to diplomatically help Merchant in Distress for the Ring of Protection +3 > Shambling Steps (Kameland) to advance Nazrielle's quest > Capital to deal with Sartayne and give another task for Sweet Teeth > Shambling Steps (Kameland) to finish Nazrielle's quest > Capital to ... get Breastplate of Afterlife from Varrask and invitation to visit him in Shambling Steps (Kameland) - "How cute!" Shaynih'a also brought a Heart Piercer and her own invitation - we're quite popular already!;

- So it's something like this: visit Varrask in Shambling Steps (Kameland) > Shaynih’a in South Narlmarches Settlement > Capital for Storyteller and start of 'An Ancient Curse, Part Three' > back to Shaynih'a to finish her quest > Technic League Encampment > Shambling Steps (Kameland) > Secluded Lodge: ... and I just can't force myself to kill that girl, but didn't help her to find Varrask either, so let them deal with each other on their own > Capital: Nazrielle brought 'Light Absorber';
- Rank Up Valerie-Regent (Community>III);
- Problem 'Monster Invasion' arise, start of quests: 'Mother of Monsters', 'Witch Hunt', 'The Seed of Sorrow';
- Finished 'The Seed of Sorrow', appointed Linzi as the Grand Diplomat, got some potions from Bokkeh;
- Lonely Mill > Goblin Village (Join Nok-Nok) > Random Encounter: Wilderness Clearing > Bridge Over the Gudrin River (Revisited once again);
- The 'Witch Hunt' quest is next: Shrine of Lamashtu (it's wrong day and we need to burn the whole week to progress there but at least we can loot the area for some nice junk) > some Random Encounters > Capital (Thorny Ring from Mim Wobbleganger and start of the Quest: 'Three Wishes');
- Artisan Mim: Three Wishes - Talon Peak;
301.jpg
302.jpg
- Shrine of Lamashtu at Moonday, exhausted after the long trip but at the right day now (though just barely) > Secluded Lodge (let Tsanna and all others go, sorry Valerie...);
- Capital: Unrest in the Streets; Linzi has a suggestion to start Companion Quest: A Feast of Feasts > Hunting Grounds to finish it;
- Capital: Claimed North Narlmarches, had a series of triumphs on projects, 'Letter from Maegar Varn', 'High Priest Seeks Your Advice', 'Councilor Awaits in the Throne Room', appointed Curator: Storyteller, visited North Narlmarches settlement, talked to and did their initial errands to recruit the Artisans Kimo and Sharel, 'Curator Needs Your Help': built free school in the Capital;
- Goblin Fort;
303.jpg
304.jpg
- Through the Silvershire to rest and sell loot from the Goblin Fort right to the Womb of Lamashtu (sorry Jhod...) - Womb of Lamashtu first area was uneventful and we hit level 11 short way in the Other World;
401.jpg
402.jpg
403.jpg
404.jpg
405.jpg
406.jpg
- Back to the Capital through the Silverstep: Ancient Mine;
- Cleared the Capital from various monsters pretty much without any issues, though Jhod has perished unfortunately and we honoured his memory by converting the old prison into a clinic named after him and 'The season of Bloom' is finally over. Dragn brought us a Torpor light hammer, we learned the stories of the 'Cypress Queen' and 'Gemstone Cave' while also restored 'Ring of Reckless Courage' alone with 'Forest Knight's Bracers'.

As a side note - restartis plague hit me hard as well so I have another run (Grim Face - Neutral Good Halfling Sylvan Sorcerer (10/14/10/12/12/20) with Leopard pet on Hard/Last Azlanti Mode/Completionist). This is actually a third attempt on hard mode - first one I abandoned after losing Valerie in Technic League Random Encounter (I know I can get her later in their camp, but still) and another one when a pair of Tatzlwyrm in Old Sycamore south just obliterated all my warriors sans me and Linzi (saved via Potions of Vanish) and I just can't afford to rise three characters from the dead - 12000 gold (+ Jamandi's free scroll) is not a joke. My current (third) run is pretty smooth so far (I've fiddled with exp sharing - on/off to squeeze as much exp as possible early on with reduced party) and we are at Level 4 already. I'll post about it if I'll manage to finish Act 1 at least. Will see...

The Tales of Grim Face & Co (Hard). Chapter 1:
Grim Face - Neutral Good Halfling Sylvan Sorcerer (10/14/10/12/12/20) with Leopard pet on Hard/Last Azlanti Mode/Completionist.
(This time I’ll fiddle with ‘turn on/off’ exp sharing early on to get max of it - early levels are indeed HARD on that difficulty and we need to squeeze every bit of exp.)

- Oleg's Trading Post > Nettle's Crossing > Ancient Tomb (to pick Harrim) > no Pine Patch this time (we are unlucky with Linzi’s Mobility skill check to get there) > Thorn Ford (skip secret stash for now to be sure to pass skill checks later) > Abandoned Hut > Back to Oleg Trading Post (to deliver Svetlana’s Ring, get ‘Tuskgutter’ task, purchase [Bag of Holding, Small] + [Resist Poison, Communal] scroll + [Resist Fire, Communal] scroll > most of Old Sycamore (taking no side between Mites and Kobolds) sans Tremendous Centipede, Grarrukh, Viscount Smoulderburn, Undead in the Old Sycamore Depths and Tartuccio > Pine Patch > Two-River's Field > Oleg Trading Post (to get Full Plate +1 for Valerie) > Boggard Hunting Grounds > Temple of the Elk (can’t get Tristian right now even though I didn’t talked to Chief Sootscale to free Jaethal, it seems there is another trigger out there) > Technic League Random Encounter > Technic League Encampment (to pick Octavia) > Hit Level 4 > Tuskgutter's Lair > Three-Pine Islet (Longspear for Harrim) > Glade in the Wilderness outside (had to burn Rise Dead scroll on Amiri - trip and three successful AoO at once are all too much even for her. we’ll come back later to clear the cave) > Old Mesa > Old Sycamore (Sleeping Bandits, free Jaethal though she didn’t join us immediately either…) > Oleg TP (close the ‘Tuskgutter’ task, ‘Temple of the Elk’ task, chat with Octavia & Reg) > Outskirts: Endless Plains > Old Sycamore: (Tartuk under ‘Protection from Fire: Communal’, Tremendous Centipede under ‘Delay Poison: Communal’, Undead - Enlarged Amiri with Masterwork Bardiche is a beast to be reckoned with, Grarrukh) > Oleg’s Trading Post (to speak with Guardian of the Bloom and reveal Stag Lord’s Fort location and also report to Kesten of Tartuk’s fate) > ‘Fangberries for Bokken’ > Old Oak (Man-eater Troll) > Thorn Ford (to poison Stag Lord’s wine, Harrim even lended Amiri his Headband of Inspired Wisdom +2 to help her pass the checks) > Stag Lord's Fort.
We were short of about ~1000 exp to hit Level 5 and I think it might be possible to squeeze that amount somewhere else but we were also short of time to finish Act 1 within 30 days time limit (which I intended to do). With nice rolls we’ve managed to convince both Akiros and Owlbear to help us defeat the Stag Lord even though Harrim died due to a pretty mean critical hit from the brute near the alarm post so we had to pull through further without him... And we hit Level 5 right after that fight! (sigh) Nonetheless we dealt with the last group of bandits, then Auchs and Dovan from Nisroch and finally engaged Stag Lord himself. Kitty and Amiri (enlarged and raged) were capable enough to deal with him while the rest of the Crew chilled right behind the corner surrounded by numerous grease puddles (© @alice_ashpool).

And so we did it! And with 60 day 11 hours remaining before the deadline. Yay!

What is left from the list of available areas are: North Narlmarches: Oak-That-Strayed (failed to spot it), North Narlmarches: Waterlogged Lowland, Shrike Hills: Riverine Rise, Shrike Hills: Trail in the Hills (just looted the [Scorched Fragment of a Necklace] from there), North Narlmarches: Tranquil River Bend, North Narlmarches: Glade in the Wilderness (inside the cave), Shrike Hills: Ratnook Hill. That's fine, we'll do those areas in Act 2.

Restov awaits!

Well, it seems, I may have encountered a bug- Kaessi is missing during the banquet in my current run. She was in prologue, and if I start a new game she is there as well (so the The Wildcards DLC is active). But in this particular save her scripted appearance during the banquet doesn't trigger...

I have a backup save in Oleg TP prior heading to Restov but it doesn't change anything.

Just like here.

Any thoughts?

Uh-oh. I remember I didn't even find the tieflings in the last dungeon of the game, they just didn't spawn for me there, so apparently, there are issues with the DLC. Maybe try reinstalling The Wildcards DLC?

However, here is a positive indication you'll be ok - "Solved she showed up later to introduce herself as a kingdom event"
