Thinking of playing a goblin in BG

Now that we have M'Khiin in SoD, I have thought of playing a goblin from the start in BG1.

Having looked up their attributes I noticed that they have shorty bonuses, +2 to Dex and +1 to Con.

However, no negatives.

My thinking is that perhaps -2 to Charisma, and -1 to Strength would be the way to go.

They also should have resistance to charm and see in the dark.

To create such a character I thought that the way to go would be to roll a dwarf and edit race, appearance and dexterity in EEkeeper afterwards.

Thoughts and suggestions?

I exported a goblin from SoD and imported him into BG1 with the intention of nerfing his experience, level and proficiencies using keeper.
Then found that he had no resistances. :( [Since found out that the page that I read was inaccurate as far as this is concerned]
Clearly a case of the developers not being careful in his creation, or perhaps the rules for 2E or 3E being different.
I'll take a look at those links and find out what they say about it. Thanks.

I'm thinking that my initial thinking is best. I won't have some of the extra benefits of being a goblin such as disengage and the like, but I can live with that.

If it helps, in AD&D, goblins don't have resistances. They're low level trash mobs so they're nothing special when it comes to their defenses. They are built out as a playable race in the Book of Humanoids (one of the many splatbooks from AD&D 2e). Here's a thing that might help:

Since goblins tends to have lesser intelligence that most of default playable races, I think intelligence penalty should also be a thing. And funny thing about goblins in Baldur's Gate is, I think in vanilla Irenicus dungeon, they used composite long bows, which required 18 strength to wield.

By all means, go for your goblin playthrough and have fun with it however you want. There's something funny an that is the fact that
Gorion's Ward being a goblin means, that between monstrous PC and human Sarevok, Gorion picked PC. No wonder Sarevok killed Gorion :p

This is what I have come up with. I won't be playing it until I finish my current run in SoD though.

The problem with the paper doll is that he carries a shield rather than two axes, and that it doesn't change when I switch to bows.

Still, those are minor issues.

The strength isn't a problem as the tomes will be sufficient.

The key to enjoying AI art is to not look too close. And hundreds of prompts
I presume that you mean that the sword isn't in his hand. The ones that really bug me are bowstrings being wrong. I think that I'll use a different portrait.

I've found three which are a lot better. I'll edit them in the morning and also look a bit closer.

This looks a bit better

AI art needs a LOT of filtering because there are so many mistakes that humans would not make!

No doubt in the future AI will improve to the extent that the commoner mistakes will be eliminated.

You can actually produce some absolute gems of portraits if you give it the right prompt and I have been using self-created portraits as the standard for my new PCs. It just takes some thinking about your description

What is with that reputation description? "You let slip an apple and it rolls away, flashing your shame"?

This was considered a bad reputation in the middle ages

My prompt was goblin warrior wielding a sword.
When I do a search, sometimes what comes up is nothing like what was asked for by the person who originally made the request.
It probably depends upon which AI system is used. Obviously the free ones are unlikely to be as good as the ones that you have to subscribe for.

I think some of the free ones are actually quite good. Grok is good for minor programming tasks but not images, and Google's free AI is excellent at images but kind of sucks at everything else. This was the first result I got asking for a goblin warrior in a Baldurs Gate 1 or 2 art style. I don't think it did a terrible job, you could probably repeat the style until you got something you wanted. At the very least, it gets the minor details correct more often than not. Ignore the name, the AI decided to give the guy a name on its own. But hey, whatever.
