  1. Dark Sun Shattered Lands playthrough

This idea still has merit even with a lone summon. You will want the "Wall" spells like Wall of Ice, Stone, Force. Throw a wall of fire into the entryway and use a fire elemental to guard for a little extra spice. This creates a chokepoint for your elemental to guard the entryway. Then you can...
  2. Dark Sun Shattered Lands playthrough

Yes, you get your backstab damage from attacking from behind. Or if they are stunned/paralyzed. Even if you aren't a psionic, if you chose Telepathy as a wild talent you get improved invisibility and ego whip (1D6 turns of stun), always useful for your thief.
  3. Dark Sun Shattered Lands playthrough

You can look at your buffs on the character menu screen, and they will show up in your combat statistics as well if you have buffs up. What is your elemental sphere for your cleric? Fire clerics have enough nukes that they stay interesting, but yes, at the end of the day clerics are inferior...
  4. Dark Sun Shattered Lands playthrough

This and the sequel are some of my favorite DnD games. Triple dual classing, elemental spheres with good spells in almost all of them, psionic wild talents, and one of the best intros of the genre. Athas in general is a fantastic world. You rest by the campfires, by the way. Just click on them.
  5. How do you feel about tabletop?

I legitimately enjoy tabletop, so much so that I will run quick solo campaigns to try new rulesets or adventure books. So I recently did with Dark Sun, trying to play the rules exactly as they are written, and honestly, it was a fantastic experience. There is a depth to build crafting in Dark...

It's one of my favorites! Hanharr is such a cool character, I often take him even when going Light Side. I've done runs where I try to push everyones alignment as far as possible to the dark side (the force-heavy prestige classes give a bonus to this for some reason, as does charisma) to see...

KOTOR and (to a lesser extent) Neverwinter Nights had those incredible rtwp combat animations that were a treat to watch. What happened to that? Modern games have devolved in so many ways
  8. I have read elsewhere that the time to dual-class a thief to mage is at level 6 or 7, but having done it at 7, advice needed.

In the Black Pits in particular, you can afford to wait. XP will be granted generously and you can get your class back in just a few fights. I still think 7 is generally the optimal time regardless, though.

My Warden did it twice, first with Morrigan when starting a budding romance before I broke it up for Leliana, again for the ritual. I also slept with the elven girl in the Dalish Camp. He even flirted a bit with Zevran. Yeah, my Warden was a bit of a dog this time. In hindsight maybe I should...

Awakening can nearly be considered another campaign with the amount of content it has, but no Inquisition is the third. Your choices carry over, after all. I want to see the ultimate fate of this Warden, even if its only mentioned in passing or in a short meeting with a companion. I miss this...

I decided to go another Dragon Age trilogy run. I've only done a full trilogy run once. Why not do it differently given it has that heavy choices-carry-over mechanic? Last time I was a Dwarf Noble, female, Ranger, romanced Alistair, let him keep the throne, kept the relationship going, and...
  12. Just when I thought I was out...

I should also mention that for dual classing, your class abilities for your original class use the combined average level of both your classes. This is still true for the EE. Why do I bring this up? Because I once rolled an Assassin 5/Fighter who took advantage of this engine perk. I assume you...
  13. Just when I thought I was out...

Swashbuckler loses backstab but they end up being one of the most interesting classes by endgame if you can suffer them that long. With whirlwind, higher base damage than a fighter, access to all spells and items thanks to UAI, the busted traps, and AC so good it's one of the only classes able...

What the hay, i'll update mine as well. Working under the Powers Division in Praetoria proved to be a disillusioning experience. Praetor Baerry was too focused on his own research and hobby projects to protect the citizens from his own creations. Bobcat cared more about upsetting her boyfriend...
  15. Why are there so many gnomish dragon disciple portraits available?

I remember the old official Bioware website when it still had NWN stuff featured a list of interesting epic level builds, complete with in-game models and storylines and all that. I distinctly remember the dragon disciple/bard build on that site being a gnome. The connection between dragons...
  16. So pleased about AI producing portraits that were previously in short supply: and good ones too.

I have used AI for a lot of DnD art. If I like a character i'm playing in Tabletop, i'll get a good portrait for their character sheet. It took some time and effort, but i've had excellent halflings and gnomes be created, who look visually distinct from one another, including sub-races like...

There are only two MMO's I like, but I like them a lot, and they are both practically OG's of the genre. City of Heroes and Everquest. And I like these two because you can play them as single player RPG's with large and rather open worlds. Right now I am playing City of Heroes. It has a...
  18. Baldur's Gate III News

That doesn't make it better, really. I have to accept the EULA after I already paid 60$ for the game. I shouldn't be forced into giving up my privacy rights because I made the mistake of paying money for a video game. Corporations of all stripes have gotten way too comfortable with utterly...
  19. Baldur's Gate III News

I find it mildly creepy that games are spying on us to that degree. Leave me alone, man.
  20. The Candlekeep Annex: RPed Baldur’s Gate No and Low Reload Adventures

I have my Avenger in TOB now. He has been a very fun character to pilot. This was always a class I wanted to try. I have the IWD spells in Baldurs Gate via a mod, so this guy is not lacking for useful spells at any level. With the firetooth dagger, belm, and the ring of gaxx, he can hit 8...
