I am tempted to work on this question for fun when I have time this week. I am thinking I will load up every IWD portrait into the "use image as reference" function, and try my hardest to accurately describe the art style in a way it will understand. Then try to generate a whole series of...
You are still in control of your files under SteamOS, i've been able to mod and install everything from homebrew VR software to mods for every which game. It's just the file structure is a little clunky. But I was always Windows before I owned a Steam Deck. Now, i'm going to always avoid trying...
All the original games work on Steam Deck. Modding them is another matter. I'm 99% sure it is just a matter of finding the right compatdata folder (to put your mods in) and Proton set up (to get the mod manager running) but I haven't tried it.
I think some of the free ones are actually quite good. Grok is good for minor programming tasks but not images, and Google's free AI is excellent at images but kind of sucks at everything else. This was the first result I got asking for a goblin warrior in a Baldurs Gate 1 or 2 art style. I...
No, that was just me making a silly joke. It's clearly an error of some sort.
When you have some sort of mod error, you get dialogue bits in all sorts of random places.
You can actually produce some absolute gems of portraits if you give it the right prompt and I have been using self-created portraits as the standard for my new PCs. It just takes some thinking about your description
This was considered a bad reputation in the middle ages
You have to play a very particular way to get Imoen to the levels in both Thief and Mage she is supposed to be at. Now that SoD exists, I leave her as a thief and never level her beyond 7. She learns her Mage skills after the events of the story and has a reputable teacher to do it with. Works...
I think about this often since the role playing aspect factors heavily into my enjoyment of the game.
Basically, I think Mage, Paladin, and Bard are all the easiest choices to justify, role-playing wise. Gorion would gladly guide you down any of these paths, and you have guides and influences...
Ishlilka can be found again just outside of the Ducal Palace, I believe. It's been some time since I playtested my own mod, i'm going to have to confirm that now. But she remains with you for the expansion and has SoD quest content.
Do I spy Tenya Therimidor and Ishlilka in the party?
I thought Tenya's mod was a brilliant idea, not only well done, but it's one of the original in-game characters that felt like they could have been a companion. I felt like it totally fit.
I apologize for never finishing Ishlilka's BG2...
I tend to agree that Firetooth is the best late game, even if you are using it in melee since it is an apr weapon.
There is a longbow somewhere in the Firkraag questline that gives something crazy like +7 to thac0 once per day. I used that on a thief build I describe below when I really needed...
If you're using everything available to you, I still think thief thac0 is manageable for what you need it for. For example, bless, aid, and chant are all level 1-2 priest spells and combined add an additional +3 (and an effective luck point via the chant effect). I've gone the stabby thief route...
You could go human fighter for 3 levels then do your dual class to thief. You get a ton for basically nothing:
Higher hp
Eventual grandmastery
Extra base 1/2 apr
Access to fighter equipment out the gate like the helm
Higher thac0 and damage through exceptional strength until you grab the...
I think a vanilla thief works out just fine, or bounty hunter.
Traps are your friend especially at low levels. A level 1 trap from a level 1 thief will one-shot a lot of enemies you will encounter. I would suggest getting that skill up first, and then stealth. Stealth can be enhanced through...
