Games that could be turned into great movies or series

Some games are great source material for movies or series. Starcraft for instance could be a great movie, so could Warcraft if done right. The game cinematics alone even show a good way to do it :)

I saw this the other day and thought it was trippy.

Not the flick, cause that's lost, but the poster... pretty wild! lol

It made me think that a cool concept for a game would be like something like the Lost Reels on that, and a cool concept for a show would just be the Oregon Trail.

I think it could be done up like the Never Ending Story as an initial hook. Then somehow the L2 computer causes spontaneous time travel, short circuit style, which as a premise is always pretty solid. Survival plus getting thrown back in time basically, ala the covered wagon delorean, with an old timey soundtrack. For an extra rush, detours to the Klondike or the Yukon or wherever, in the expansion pack season 2 hehe. Get the horses and the oxen and the dogs all in there. There's a lot of old west or western themed games, but then watching the revenant again and betty gilpin in primeval, it made me think they could just sorta do a Red Dead meets the Oregon Trail. A crossover type thing. Specifically something with like raft mechanics or kayaks or something. To make it palatable I think the move is like 1971 for the current timeline, 1936 for the secondary timeline, both sorta glossy, and then 1800s actual could just be like abysmal and really dirty with more grit than anyone really asked for. Sorta heading it all off at the pass in that way, with a semi comedic angle to fit the theme.

Another game from early days that would be cool to mine for a series or flick would be something like Lode Runner or Pong, as a comedic send up of Tron.

I enjoyed space Ragnar in the Warcraft flick. I mean it wasn't really on my radar, but it sorta worked when I finally got around to taking a look there, but I think comedy and games is a more natural fit than like high fantasy high drama. High production values are important though.

Cuphead seems like it would have made a pretty good feature length cartoon.

For sure! We're all among our peeps here lol

Also, along the Oregon Trail, for a follow up different branch, I'm less interested in the lost John Wayne (though he could probably just be like a Westworld robot or something) it's really more Ann Rutherford's lost character that peaked my interest. She was in that one show with Mickey Rooney in the 40s, and then a bit character in that one flick with Bruce Dern about the dog who saved Hollywood...

"After escaping the dog pound, a German Shepherd links up with a budding actress and a wannabe film screenwriter and then becomes a Hollywood star."

Sounds brilliant! "Originally titled a Bark is Born..." with more cameos than should be possible for a single dog movie. It was just panned abysmally when it came out, in the same era as Death Wish, but apparently she was in there somewhere. Plus a few other flicks from the 30s and 40s featuring the dogs. Mon Film, no doubt lol. Like a whole theme I guess.

I only learned from researching potential Secret Agent Provocateurs for a high concept Axis and Allies game. She had an excellent hat in this image, which I had saved as being particularly flashy. Laying the hammer down!

Anyway, roundabout way of saying that an Axis and Allies movie or show would be also be funny. Particularly if it played out the way the game does, with a second Pearl Harbor attack, D-Day happening like 6 times in a row, and the ever present threat of Japanese tanks bearing down on Moscow. The more specific the humor the better. Hearts of Iron or Call of Duty might stand a better chance, but I just think it's always better if we can set something in 1984 before time warping backwards.

ps. knock on thought. Drifting more towards shows and flicks that could be made into games and then back into movies again I guess. Everyone knows of Rin Tin Tin from WW1 and Rin Tin Tin III from WWII right, but Strongheart would be another good one! They do occasionally try this stuff for the war horses, but I think an epic biopic adventure about Strongheart dog star would be pretty engaging.
