Anyone big on Tactics games? Hehe. Tactics Ogre: Reborn. Fire Emblem of course, but even older ones like FFTactics (FFTA, FFTA2 as well). There's that tactical RPG spinoff for Persona5 that looks promising as well. I'm honestly just always looking for ways to scratch the FFTactics itch xD. Recently bought a new game called Cross Tails, relatively cheap, but it's a tactical game with some class customization as well

Wartales, Battle Brothers, those are good tactics games if you’re also into resource and team management. There’s also this new indie game in early access called The Iron Oath, which is like Battle Brothers, but with pixel graphics and a focus on having many different classes to choose from.

If you are leaning heavy into FFTactics...
Symphony of War: The Nephilim Saga
Cassette Beasts (this one is like...Pokemon meets Power Rangers Megazord?)

Wartales, Wildermyth, Iron Oath, Xenonauts 2 are all solid choices.
If you want a bit of Aliens in your story, USC: Counterforce (just released to early access).

You've come to the right place to talk turn-based tactics games!!

Do not sleep on Tactics Ogre: Knight of Lodis, especially if you have played Reborn. Knight of Lodis is a prequel.

I played Tactics Ogre LUCT to death, Was shocked when, on the Law route, I ”accidentally“ let Catiua die and was hated enough that I got *assassinated* during the ending as king. Wonderful game.

The third FFT game really scratched that casual tactics itch for me, as much as I loathe what they did to the lore of Ivalice.

Live a Live is the oddest turn based tactics game around, and it certainly stretches the definition of what one is, but I cant not recommend that hidden gem. It gets proper good during the second half of the game when character intros are out of the way.

Rebelstar: Tactical Command is a very good XCom clone. So hide behind cover and dont go in guns blazing.

And don't forget this gem from the flash age! No, seriously. Tactics 100 is good on a casual level.

I definitely recommend Battle Brothers (and if someone is bored with vanilla, there are some great mods, the best and biggest is probably Legends). I also played Lost Eidolons recently and it was fun.
