The Four Job Fiesta charity event is coming up in june. Looking forward to it.

Every year they kick it off with an event they call The Run, where four speedrunners race to complete the game with a team composition we vote on. Current frontrunners are blue mage, time mage, bard, and dancer. Looking forward to seeing what they do with the time mage. I feel like I never quite use that class to its full potential, though I still get a lot of mileage out of it. I think it's still got a lot of tricks I'm not properly applying yet.

Yep! The Four Job Fiesta is a charity event where people play Final Fantasy 5 under a self imposed rule set where you get 1 randomly selected job from each crystal. There are a few variants on the rule set, but that's the basic.

People will pledge various amounts of money for each complete run of the game, as well as sometimes for each time you beat the two optional superbosses Omega and Shinryu.

This year they're raising money for the Palestinian Children's Relief Fund.

It's super fun! There's a great community on discord where you can talk about your experience and they're also super helpful if you get stuck.

For what it's worth, it runs from Mid-June to August 31st.

I don't know if that's better or worse for your schedule than what you were imagining. Just throwing it out there in case that changes anything for you.

For the past few weeks I've been trying to get through the city of Alushinyrra in Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous, but this part of the game feels like such a slog (to me, at least) that I'm just not really motivated to contine the adventure. I'll bring myself to finish the game eventually, but for now it seems more like a chore than entertainment.

So that's why I'm currently playing Subnautica: Below Zero instead. For my current run, I've decided not to visit Al-An, I ignored the alien distress signal and I'm just roaming the world, building bases in different biomes. The game feels much less railroaded when you play it like that.

So my laptop broke and I bought a new one. Those two-three weeks stopped my PoE playthrough and once I got back the comp I had some cloud saves that let me continue where I left off, but I just couldn't get back into it. I was in WM1 and my unplanned stop made me realize the game has too many filler fights. You can literalyl not walk 50 in-game meters without encountering a new mob.

So now I am playing good'ol Fallout 2 again. Last time was around 3-4 years ago, but that one failed when my mods broke the game so never finished then. Went very lite with mods this time, just UPU (though had planned to go with RP but messed up the installation and installed UPU only). Playing a rather typical minmaxed small guns build.

So now I am playing good'ol Fallout 2 again.

Good choice. I still take this game for a spin from time to time. This was my last concept/build:

He wanted to prove himself to his tribe. However, he had no talent with the spear or fist (no melee/unarmed tag/average ST), nor the strength or stamina to even keep up on the hunt (ST 4, EN 2). Having lost most of the use of one of his arms in a gecko attack (One Hander) hasn't helped him impress his tribe as the expected Elder-to-be. They know he means well (Good Natured), but that doesn't make him any less of a disappointment (CH 2).

However, everything is about to change.

Having risked life and (remaining) limb to be the Chosen One, he will head into the wasteland to find new allies (Speech/Magnetic Personality), discover the way of the gun (Small Guns/EW/Combat Perks) and the warrior within will be unleashed.

Hey there, hi there, everyone!

I took a break from gaming for awhile but I’m back at it. In the interest of buttressing my basic B credentials, I’ve joined the masses in discovering Fallout for the first time. I started with Fallout 3 -a shameful admission on an RPG forum- but I did give installing Fallout 1 on my only windows machine, an ASUS Rog, a try.

I recently finished my first No Reload (Permadeath) run on Normal. I’m firing up a Hard game now. We’ll see how it goes.

In any case, it’s been fun. Fallout 3 may lack the edgy gravitas of 1 & 2, but I’m perfectly content to embrace a dumb fun joy ride. That’s what gaming is all about for me anyways

Three is ok, but for the type of SSLP you do, I feel like NV would be more your grove. Do you happen to have the expansions for 3? Specifically, I mean Broken Steel. I don't want to spoil anything either way, so let's just say I'm just asking.

I plan to move on to NV and 4 once I’m done with 3. I’ll consider myself done with 3 when I’ve no reloaded it on the highest difficulty. I expect that to happen soon. My current game has been super-smooth so far.

As for DLC, I’m playing on an XBox S, using Game Pass. There’s no DLC. The level cap is 20. Also, hard is the highest difficulty. There is a very hard in other editions, which would be nice to have.

Would you recommend the DLC? I could buy the game, along with DLC, if it’s worth it.

Btw, what’s SSLP? I looked it up on Acronym Finder. Answers included Simple Sequence Length Polymorphism, Sit Still Look Pretty, Slim Shady LP and Saving St. Louis Pets. I’m pretty sure it’s not one of those….

I wouldn't spend any extra money on the game. It's okay, but nothing to write home about. After you finish the game, I'll tell you why I asked about the DLC. I just don't want to spoil anything.

I think a game like that works awesome as a no-reload. I tried playing Skyrim that way, lot's of fun (and honesty, quite challenging, ugh, that fall damage). Especially if you add the Survival mode/mod on top. F3 doesn't have that so it's up to you.

I NRed Skyrim back in the day. It’s pretty straightforward if you prioritize leveraging the crafting system. I’m finding Fallout 3 to be pretty similar to Skyrim in terms of difficulty. My first run was super rough; second was a near success; third was a success. The learning curve isn’t nearly as steep as BG 1&2, which is still -by far- my fav game for NR runs.

I’m leaning towards holding off on sharing my Fallout 3 run. The main issue is that I’m not sure the game play is rich enough to support a text based account. I fear it’ll turn into a list of things I shot and that sounds boring as all get out. I backed out of sharing my Mass Effect run for the same reason.

BG 1&2 are so perfect for SSLP coverage that everything else pales. Pillars of Eternity is the only game I’ve tried that comes close. I should probably try Pathfinder.
