Lol, I forgot how 100% aurora engine Wither 1 is.
Do you mean it as a good thing, a bad thing, or something different?

I cannot deny that the game has aged, quite a lot.

I played through 2 acts of The Witcher 1 two years ago. Enjoyed it and saw a lot of good signs that later evolved in subsequent games. Now when you're replaying it, do you think a remake is a good idea?

A remake is definitely a good idea, as many things can be drastically improved, thus making the game more enjoyable and immersive. Since it is also a remake instead of the remaster, some things that didn't make much sense can be changed. Like, Jaskier/Dandelion is introduced in chapter II of the game, but due to how the game is played the event in which he appears can be easily missed. This result in many players meeting him in chapter III for the first time, and the game just assumes you know him.

There are some things I truly enjoy about Witcher I, like the alchemy system with its primary and secondary alchemical substances. The system works well enough for casual play but also offers more to people who want to be more particular about which components they use. For example, if you want a healing elixir with decreased toxicity levels, you can make it. If you want the Cat elixir that also boosts your damage, you can make it. And so on, and so on. You just need to be attentive to which alchemical components you use. Systems like that are really neat.

Sadly, systems like that are more likely to be dumbed down. Alternatively, will be substituted by something that works differently altogether.

Tried W1 maybe a year ago, could be two. Actually, it's probably three years ago, but nonetheless I found it had aged or that I had aged, heh. I never did like W1 even back in the day, the fighting system was a bit to clickityclicky for my taste and the skill system was peculiar. A remake would have to remake these things, ie backporting W2 mechanics into W1 or similar to make it interesting for me personally. I kinda wish I had soldiered through it once back in the day though, just to have done it.

So right now I just started a run of Encased: A sci-fi post-apocalyptic RPG which is unsurprisingly a RPG set in a post-apocalyptic sci-fi setting. Only tried 2-3 hours so far, but get some Shadowrun and Torment Tides of Numenera vibes from it and with a rather heavy dose of dark humour.

Been juggling a few characters. Just accidentally saved my mage/thief over my fighter/thief which I guess means it's time to settle on one.

Didn't actually lose all that much progress. I start a new save every time I start a new chapter, and I'd just recently cleared the nashkel mines on the fighter/thief. Basically would just need kill Mullahey, those amazonian bounty hunters, and the weird slime wizard again and I'd be right where I was before. Still seems like a sign.

This fighter/thief is turning out disastrous.

I accidentally misspent Imoen's thief skills. Don't know what happened I literally just at some point noticed I hadn't been putting them into the skill I thought I was.

And then I dualed her, even though my main character didn't have the skills to pick up her slack. I went to the Flesh Golem Cave for some easy loot and experience to help Imoen regain some levels, forgetting that the place was trapped to high hell. Literally just ate every trap in that cave.

Just real rookie hour here. Trying to decide if I want to start over fresh or power though it. I've got potions that should be able to deal with the cloakwood mines, but all the traps in the cloakwood forest are gonna be a problem. Once I get out the other end of that there'll be a lot more potions in the city of Baldur's Gate though. Should be able to ride that through to the end of the game I think.

Save vs spells: "Yay!"

Save vs death: "Boo!"

Maybe should've taken off the claw before entering the most poison intensive section of the game.

After watching the Hades 2 trailer at The Game Awards, I got back to Hades. Steam showed I have 27 hours in the game and launched it the last time in Jan 2021. It was fun to get back in. I haven't seen the whole plot yet, but the main boss was defeated at least once. So I ran the game and spent 1.5 hours in it, approaching the final boss again (and failing against them).

In those 1.5 hours, I not only fought enemies from one room to another but also advanced a few subplots further by talking to some unique characters. I managed to go on a date with a small cute gorgon, unlocked a few nice bonuses for the main character, and almost unlocked a new weapon. I also helped my friend Orpheus.

The game shows the number of attempts I had in the game: 31. So it's roughly 1 hour for 1 attempt (if you read all the dialogues etc).

The gameplay feels quick, everything is so stylish, the visuals are so slick, the VO is so sweet, and even the failed attempt to kill the main foe moved the plot forward (for example, that date wasn't available before, and to help Orpheus, I had to meet that singing lady from a screenshot below).

Used to play that all the time at my grandma's house. I can't recall if we even had a home computer back then. A lot of people definitely didn't.
I think that Heroes 3 was the best of the series, followed by Heroes 2.
There's a lot of mods for Heroes 3. For example, a lot of new towns. Information for most of them has been summarized in the site that I'll link below. It's in Russian (I don't read Russian, but it can be translated with Google). The Abyss Town is probably my favorite, it has sea creatures like Giant Crabs, Krakens, Merrow, etc.

Hello to all! I had to stay away from games because my addiction kicked in hard, and work and family got hurt from it. But a gamer stay a gamer, so playing slowly sinked back with mobile play, first i started with candy crush ( :D ) then for some reason i tried Lords Mobile and i get stucked. It's tricky, i never payed too much on games and after some month i found myself spending more money on it slowly, than i ever would like to (for example i could buy Diablo 2 Resurrected from it). It says it's an MMORPG, but it's rather a strategic game. I guess i'm lucky i never tried WOW xD.

I think HOMM3 is probably a bit of an age thing. Don't see too many kids discovering it for the first time today.

But like, there were a lot of games back then that just got forgotten by the sands of time. And others that people feel the desire to revisit. Think that's significant.

I've never played multiplayer HoMM, so I think I'd get destroyed by any experienced HoMM players. It's a completely different game against human players than it is against the AI.

Also, wouldn't there be a lot of just sitting there waiting for other players to finish turns? Like, I've heard some kingdom management, building, and exploration can be done simultaneously, but what if two players encounter each other early and have to start fighting while other players are still building and exploring?

And doesn't everybody just choose necromancer (if it's allowed) because that faction can destroy all the other factions with skeleton armies?
