I have read elsewhere that the time to dual-class a thief to mage is at level 6 or 7, but having done it at 7, advice needed.

Thanks for the info. I have just dual-classed to mage at level 10 and will see how it works out in due course.

Playing in the Black Pits, my level cap is 600,000. This means that I believe that I could have dual classed at a higher level than 7. How high could I have gone with my thief in order to get my thief skills back before leaving the Black Pits? I am thinking that level 10 would be OK

I have realised that I should have dual-classed at a much higher level, probably 10 or higher therefore I am dropping this run and starting this. At first things were straightforward, but the battle that brought the party up to level 5 was very touch and go. At least we earned a lot of gold...

I was using my talents as a thief to avoid being spotted by one of those self-righteous paladins when there was a flash of blue light and I found myself bound by a geas to that self-same paladin and four others in Baeloth’s Arena. We would never have chosen each other as companions, but had no...

Journal of Dark Helm. After leaving Candlekeep, Gorion was killed. We went to the FAI and then northwards where we killed Sonner et Al. Afterwards we joined up with Tenya who has accompanied us to Beregost and then Nashkel where we found suitable armour for her. We went to see farmer Brun and...

I have written stuff before mostly on the Beamdog forum. I used to write on another forum. I think that it was called Gamespot. However it deteriorated.

I'll have a look, but in the meantime here is my party imported into Candlekeep. BG1 should be VERY straightforward, but the experience cap in Siege of Dragonspear should make that harder. My wealth fell dramatically from 36757gp to 539gp. :( At least I am well equipped. This time I am...

Accumulating resources by fighting the Ice Salamanders. Straightforward but time consuming. One trip gained two potions of extra healing, another potions of fire resistance: the next a potion of absorption for each party member. It took three visits to buy the belt of inertial barrier. The...

Next we took on some Hobgoblins that included wizards. One was made ineffective by means of silence. The other was attacked using poison and their mirror image was effectively dispelled using true sight. Once the wizards were eliminated the rest of the hobgoblins were effectively dealt with...

Only just seen your posts as I've been out of the country for a while. Very Interesting I have just had the idea whilst away of trying a Lawful Evil Helmite party starting in the Black Pits. Having been away I lost track of where I had got to, so since I hadn't got very far, I'll start again...

Playing a run with Nirel the Nasty being the protagonist. It was Shar who demanded that I kill one of the house mothers who was at the forefront of the Drow opposition to him. We did try, but it was another follower of Lolth who actually succeeded though we got the blame for it. Shar pointed us...

Does anybody know anything about Nirel?

I understand where you are coming from. However, I would like the clerics of different gods to have different attributes. In the past I have installed one of the above, but forget which it was. What I found annoying was the inability of clerics to wear the best armour. I am going to play the...

Does anybody know anything about Nirel?

They were in Durlag's Tower. They come from Dark Side of the Sword Coast: Some of the very few powerful items made specifically for evil characters. I was thinking about the details of Nirel and realised that the description of him are deliberately left vague, an invitation to let your...

Any advice as to what innate spells should be given to a priest of Shar would be appreciated. I discovered this in the Clerical remix mod. This component installs the Nightcloak of Shar cleric kit. I don't want to install it, but am using EE Keeper to emulate it. Confusion is available. Dark...

Having discovered as much as I can about Nirel, here is the very nasty party of a very nasty character - Nirel These two items were given to Nirel, a cleric of Shar: indeed the entire party worship Shar. At Shar's behest they killed a matron mother in the underdark. When things went wrong...

Does anybody know anything about Nirel?

I have come across these two items and thought that acuallly playing Nirel as a character could be interestiing. What is said on the item descriptions made me think a drow cleric of Shar. That would mean that I could have Viconia in a drow party which had Nirel in it. Clearly I will equip him...

In the Underdark, I had been quietly plotting the murder of Matron Mother, intending to take her place. Unfortunately the poison that others had given her killed her before she drank my potion. Seeing the danger that I posed, the other scemers turned on me but not before I acquired her robe and...

Why are there so many gnomish dragon disciple portraits available?

Though not strictly allowed in the unmodded game, there is a mod that allows you to play any class with any race. To do that dwarves were allowed an extra point of charisma otherwise they couldn't get the 17 points insisted on for paladins. The mod is called No Race Restrictions Mod I am...

Why are there so many gnomish dragon disciple portraits available?

I mainly play Baldur's Gate and in that game dragon disciples are restricted to humans, elves and half elves, yet a large proportion of the dragon disciple portraits that I found are gnomes. I am wondering why. Are there games where they can be rolled legally? Are there legends in which there...
