  1. Arcanum or Dragon Age:Origins and why?

Arcanum from GOG has always been plug-and-play for me, no issues. Am interested to see what build and character you go with!
  2. Arcanum or Dragon Age:Origins and why?

I would say Arcanum solely on the basis that it is less of an investment. If you play DAO then you might be tempted to import your save into Dragon Age 2, Inquisition, and god forbid, you may even touch Veilguard. Arcanum is one and done.

It is a pre-gen that I added the "gifted" trait to and then changed the stat line and skills around a bit "Chitsa" was the name of the pre-gen I used as a template. I added "Chitsa Fairtrade" because it made me laugh
  4. Anyone played black geyser or other pillars of eternity/badur's gate alike recommendations?

Tyranny has amazing lore, an amazing setting, one of the best conceptions about magic of any rpg, and it's one of my all time favorite games. Playing Good in a world dominated by Evil is possible, but expect it to be the path of greatest resistance. Indeed, it doesn't even appear to be totally...
  5. What game are you currently playing?

To hold me over between bouts of Arcanum I have decided to try to beat another game that held me back for too long, Fallout 2. Using the same philosophy that worked so well in Arcanum, I went the Charisma route. Meet Chitsa Fairtrade. Master of speech, barter, and gambling. My goal is to make...
  6. Anyone played black geyser or other pillars of eternity/badur's gate alike recommendations?

If you havent tried Tyranny, it's definitely worth a try. It uses the PoE engine and basic systems like stats, but everything about it is more interesting. And I mean everything.

I am almost convinced that one of the more articulate half-ogres you meet on the Isle of Despair (guarding the door to Ogrin I think) is, well...royalty. His backstory and his mannerisms are a noticeably different than the rest. Including that he even has a backstory as a throwaway half-ogre NPC.

As much as I hate that quest, and I really do hate it, I freely admit it's good storytelling. The most well connected people in this world are above "official" consequences. Just because you are the "hero" doesn't change that. My only complaint is that you should be allowed to bring the subject...

My character is so shocked and horrified by that quest he actually seeks out and eliminates all the gnomes he can find on the industrial council or who he suspects might be related. I always play good characters. But my character is a traditionalist, and the thought of what they did to the King...
  10. Charisma

It's typically combined with a supernatural bloodline or other highly magical explanation. They are accessing a power that comes from force of personality, but only because they have the special ability to do so. In the outer planes, where all belief is power, it's arguable that everyone...
  11. What game are you currently playing?

I always had a lot of trouble making progress in Arcanum, but this time I've become practically unstoppable. With a mere 12 Charisma (and expert persuasion) I have amassed a rather large fighting force, two of which have max strength, and two of which I can buff to max strength with one of my...

The Co8 patch is still available, along with other mods. Temple+ is always fun because it allows things like prestige classes. In fact, I regret not using the Co8 on this current run because i've already hit the level cap and i've only just began delving into the elemental nodes. Even my...
  13. What game are you currently playing?

Right now i'm going through Temple of Elemental Evil, and getting close to finishing it for the first time. There's something really special about the atmosphere of this game. Hommlet feels as sleepy as you can get. Nulb feels like you can be knifed around any corner. Every area is densely...

There is a lot still on my to-do list for Origins, even after a decade of playing, and a couple completed runs. One of them is witnessing, for myself, the "hardened" personality changes of Alistair and Leliana. And committing to those "evil" choices in the sequels. I always appreciated...
  15. Dragon Age: The Veilguard

The "mature tone of the original trilogy" is more than an art style, and I hope they realize that (they don't). That is not to say art style isn't important, but Mass Effect has something truly special going with its narrative and choices.
  16. I can't see underwater: Let's play Subnautica blind

I spent an unreasonably long amount of time trying to scan the birds. I am also in the "scan everything" category, since learning more about the world around me is half the fun. Side note, I just recently discovered one of the rare biomes, the only one where a certain species lives, after...
  17. Dragon Age: The Veilguard

They should at least recognize major decisions, like if Anora or Alistair are ruling Ferelden, or if the Gray Warden survived and finished their quest to extend the lifespan of the Wardens. That is just plain lazy, proof positive the team isn't up to the task of keeping the franchise going.
  18. I can't see underwater: Let's play Subnautica blind

Subnautica is one of the best games to experience in VR. I said "experience", not play. Controls are a little too clunky for my tastes, but it is truly breathtaking to see certain scenes underwater, or even to explore your base, provided you have lots of windows of course. Works with the...
  19. I can't see underwater: Let's play Subnautica blind

I was mega disappointed that I couldn't build a base on top of one tbh
  20. I can't see underwater: Let's play Subnautica blind

Will be watching this thread, my kids and I had a great time with the first game. It keeps getting better as you go on.
