This is from my enchantment spreadsheet, showing level 4 spells only:

Overwhelming GriefEnchantmentDebuff[Mind-affecting] [Compulsion] [Emotion] [Negative Emotion]noneSingleClosen/asave per roundStandardWillYesoverwhelming griefUnable to take actions

I like all 3 of them but the cones can be hard to aim while AoE is easier so I went Confusion first and then Overwhelming Grief and skipped Crushing Despair though I suspect it is an under-valued spell - huge duration and -2 debuff on saves, damage and attack rolls. Overwhelming Grief, because it neither Prones nor paralyses is very powerful for disabling enemies which have Freedom of Movement and Prone immunity. Plus it can effect animals: Owlbears can be sad. Of course anything with Mind Affecting immunity is immune but thats part of the fun.

THis is the full list of kingmaker enchantment spells, links should go to the Wiki:

You can see that Levels 2-5 have some great spells, but level 6 spells do not translate well to the cRPG: Serenity is a cool spell but in Owlcats games it translates to a very underwhelming damage tick. Cloak of dreams is too fiddly. Level 7 has "just ok" spells: Insanity is a heightened single target Confuse but it loses a lot of its tabletop strength. Waves of Ecstasy I have talked about before and Power Words are just cool. At 8, Euphoric Tranquility is is very powerful but really needs Reach Metamagic to be better, and at 9 you have Overwhelming Presence and Dominate Monster, both very powerful.

My current thing of interest is wondering if Areelu is innatly immune to Feeblemind or if she can be dispelled then Feebled, because that would be a fitting victory for my demon playthorough.

Finally found a decent way to do Mounted Ranged combat, and a decent way to play halfling too.

Say hello to Lyria the Divine Hound Hunter and her Divine Hound Wendy-dog:

@alice_ashpool What do you think of the Bard's "Fascinate" ability? I use it almost every fight. I'm asking because it has a similar function to Daze, Sleep, Hideous Laughter, Hold Person, Deep Slumber, etc. What's good about Fascinate IMO is that it affects non-humanoids and humanoids alike, it affects an area as opposed to a single target, and you can use it a lot during a day (Linzi is level 9 right now in my run and she can use Fascinate about 30 times/rounds per day).

Granted, when you hit a fascinated monster, the effect is gone. But I think it's still a great crowd-controlling ability.

I like Fascinate and try to remember to use it, but there are two things: firstly, I find it quickly competes with Dirge of Doom at level 8 which generates auto-shaken (so -2 attack rolls, -2 all saves, shatter defenses active), and secondly in RtwP it becomes difficult to stop your toons accidentally hitting Fascinated enemies (this is easier to control in Turn Based though).

I do love the satisfaction of multiple enemies hitting your Fascinate aura and stopping dead though!

Mounted ranged combat just feels like throwing away the animal's attacks unless someone gets close to the ranged character... I still haven't done it...
Yep, it is, but on the fun side you can take Racer as your archetype and you can do arrow-based drive bys. hasted Racer dog moves at 80, I think wolf would be 90. Even without Haste I'm going 50 which outruns almost anything anyway. Commence benny hill kiting.

Playing around again, I made it to the Mongrel Village on Unfair Difficulty with 1 combat reload (Little earth Elementals) using every trick in the book, which equals my record, with a Kitsune Eldritch Scoundrel. Have never managed to get the Elementals first time but this was close (forgot to Protective Luck)

Thinking of those Pouncing Sneaks + Genikind + Flaming Frost Shock Kukri Elemental Barrages and wondering if Lich + Kitsune Eldritch Scoundrel would make a half-baked/knock-off "melee wizard"

Here's a little Unfair demo on some easy(er) enemies showing one of the most viable low level strats for clearing out the easy stuff.

Roles:
MC: Dex tank and damage - Shield, Mage Armor and reduce will allow tanking with Protective Luck. 2d6 sneak attack and a Shocking Grasp
Camellia: Buffs Seelah's Damage with Enlarge and Bulls, Buffs MC's AC then uses Protective Luck every round all battle.
Seelah: Damage Dealer - 2 handed Enlarged Greatsword with Bull's Strength and Eagles Splendor for Smite - she will hit for 20+ when she hits.
Wenduag; Nothing! (joke, she occasionally hits with her bow, I want her on Axes for Kenabres kiting so she is pretty useless right now)

1. Opens with Shocking Grasp:

2. Sharpshooter Explodes:

3. Seelah charges in with Smite Evil:

4. We clear up the Cleric directing aggro back to the MC

5. And clear up the last sharpshooter:

A while ago I asked a question about whether or not I should use a certain cursed cloak on my main character, a sorcerer. I have been using this cloak happily for a long time, but recently I started to consider another one. This other cloak would simply increase my Charisma by +2 over what I currently have. So to summarize the bonuses of choosing one cloak over the other (i.e. If I choose one cloak I gain its listed bonuses and lose the listed bonuses of the other):
Cloak of Sold SoulsStrigoi's Embrace
  • Increases DC of Necromancy spells by 1
  • Increases effective caster level of Necromancy spells by 2 (primarily useful for Wail of the Banshee and Finger of Death)
  • Increases the DC of non-Necromancy spells by 1 (almost all my known spells are Conjuration, Evocation, and Necromancy spells)
  • Adds a couple of extra spells castable per day (one at level 4 and one at level 8)
  • No -4 constitution penalty

Which cloak would you choose to wear? I know there are other effects of these cloaks, but the ones listed are the ones I am mainly concerned with.

Afaik Strigoi's is the best Enchantment Bonus to Charisma, and it will free up a head slot for some nice head-gear. Cloak of sold souls can then go to Harrim if you have spec'd him for Necromancy, which I do usually - that makes the decision easy for me.

It looks like you are basically trading -1DC Necro, for an extra slot and +1DC Evo and Conj. If you lose Sold soul's Constitution Penalty on your MC you could also slot Amulet of Dying Wisdom for an extra +2 Charisma from Profane Bonus, but -3 all physical stats

That actually sounds like a really good plan! The only other helmet I have that could replace the Crown is probably the Frozen Shout, but it will help a little bit. As for the Amulet of Dying Wisdom, I have it, but prefer to use the Amulet of Four Elements for its damage boost.
