Ok, then spoiler:

I was asking about Broken Steel because it changes the ending. The whole suicide ending seemed a little contrived and forced. Additionally, it's plain ridiculous if you have any of the companions (the mutant, ghoul, or robot) that are immune to radiation. Back in the day, Bethesda took a metric ton of shit for the ending which was largely the impetus for Broken Steel (so they could retcon the ending).

Thanks for sharing! Tbh, I was aware, and figured that was what you were referring to. I roll with Fawkes in the endgame, and with him by your side it’s especially ridiculous. The first time I played, I clicked “There must be another way?” Fawkes was standing right in front of me -like right in front of me- and when the negative reply popped up I assumed it was a bug. It’s epically dumb- not sure what Bethesda was thinking.

I’m pleased to report that my Fallout character, Lilith, successfully completed her No Reload on Hard, the XBox Gamepass edition’s highest difficulty setting.

For the curious, her primary skills were Repair, Sneak and later Speech. Her Perk list is available on request.

The early game strategy was to get the ghoul mask, and then use the mask to retrieve the Lincoln Repeater. Stealth shots with the Repeater one shoted most enemies. Stronger foes were felled with frag grenades and bottlecap mines.

In the endgame the Alien Blaster + Stealth Boys took care of everything. This is insanely OP, in fact. Med X, Psycho and Jet figured prominently. Buffout less so, but it did see some use.

On balance it was a pleasant ride. I downloaded Fallout: New Vegas to my XBox last night. Lilith is heading West.

I’m not quite done with Fallout 3, as it turns out. After finishing Lilith’s NR, I decided to see whether I could succeed with a completely different character. And so the talented, stealthy sniper, Lilith, gave way to the brute force melee fighting, minigun wielding Big Red.

Big Red rode the struggle bus for a bit, but that was my fault, not hers. I failed to switch up the quest order for her, and that proved to be a mistake. Lilith did Those Part 1 early, assuming a position above the town in the ruins and taking out all the ants with her sniper rifle. Big Red, on the ground, in range of flames, had a much tougher time. I compounded the error by stubbornly proceeding on to Those Part 2, ultimately draining Big Red’s resources. Once that misstep was behind her, Big Red did great. It was smooth sailing for then on.

While setting up Big Red’s game, I noticed that there is, in fact, a Very Hard setting on the XBox Gamepass edition. I’m not sure how I missed it the first time. Lilith is now back in the Capital Wasteland, working on her Very Hard NR. It’s early, but so far so good. We’ll see how it goes

While I’m back on the RPG train, I am still playing Street Fighter 6 every now and then. I’m currently at Diamond 3 with my preferred character, Lily- slowly but surely making my way to Master rank. At present there are only about a thousand Master Lilys in North America. Hopefully they’ll be one more in a few months.

I’m mentioning this mostly because I took an accidental screenshot during play recently and I felt like showing it off, since the timing was uncannily perfect. This is my Lily finishing off a super on the newest, hottest DLC character, Akuma. Fun stuff!

Finished FO2 recently and hopped around different mods (tried FO Resurrection etc) but felt a bit done with SPECIAL for a while. Despite my love for FO, the (classic) SPECIAL system tends to get a bit stale since due to how skill points work there aren't really many different 'builds'. So went back to my good'ol EU4 trying out the very popular fantasy total conversion mod Anbennar. Very cool.

I don't have a PC at the moment and am more in the mood for reading than action, so I remembered that @m7600 still recommended it as great narrative even nowadays, so I thought it's a good time to try and pick up Planescape: Torment again.
I first tried and dropped it in 2001, but I think back then I had a problem with playing a fixed character, and later again in 2019, when the world of newer games started to open up for me and I had no more patience for yet another Infinity Engine game.

The Enhanced Edition is available on tablet and crashes often, but compulsive quicksaving is my friend, so it's fine. I'm still in the boring part of running around the Hive without actually knowing what I'm supposed to do, going everywhere with Morte and Dak'kon (finally I know the guy whose weapon was for sale in the back of the Adventurer's Mart), talking to everyone, reading a lot of seemingly pointless dialogue, and patiently waiting for the time where I'll find out why this is considered a prime example of storywriting in games.
Or, to finally find out, What can change the nature of a Krogan?

The story really starts to become amazing after the encounter with the Silent King and with Many-as-One, IMO.

I think you'll love the character Fall-From-Grace. I know I do! She's probably my favorite character in the game, and the place where you meet her is hilarious. But I won't say any more so that I don't spoil the game : P

Annah is a bit rough around the edges for me. She's cool, but definitely not my fav. Nordom is ok, though I find his kin at the Brothel a lot funnier : P

Ignus has a really compelling story, in which The Nameless One's role was really fucked up. Awesome storytelling, that's all I can say without spoiling too much. Vhailor is really interesting from a conceptual point of view, i.e. taking the Lawful Neutral alignment to its logical extreme.

And another name I only know from his item-for-sale in BG2 :)
Lawful Neutral, the most dangerous alignment there is. I'llprobably not get along with him, but let's see.
And I have heard at least the name of the establishment where you meet Fall-from-Grace before. I'm curious!

Yeah still waiting for things to pick up some pace. Right now all I'm doing is fetch quests. I thought the mausoleum would bring some more information but it too was just "go, kill, hand in quest". I'll probably have to follow the thing with Pharod to progress in the story.

Btw I figured combat wasn't important in the game, so difficulty is somewhere middle and while I left the Nameless One a fighter, I'm putting points into mental stats, especially WIS, because I've heard that's what offers most access to memories and dialogue options.
