Trying another run of BG3, but damn have I got restartitis. Restartitis is a double-edged sword with this game. On one hand, you are trying to decide the character YOU really want to play, which is no easy feat. On the other, you have to think about party composition. And only having four slots really handcuffs you in terms of balance and quality of life choices. Yes, technically you can multi or respec, but the writing is such that it just doesn't make sense to me. Even giving Wyll one level in rogue felt wrong and I had to restart. Anyway, it's a great game and if I can actually settle on a concept I think I'll enjoy subsequent play-throughs more than the first as having some meta knowledge will ease the anxiety of hoping I get good story outcomes. I'm on tactician level now, and honestly I'm not seeing any difference from balanced. I suppose I'll have to wait for boss fights to really feel it.

You can install a mod that will increase the number of party słota and virtually use everyone at the same time. This will impact the game balance, of course, because the game will be easier.

Yeah, I saw @Black Elk talking about that. I still want to roll unmodded for now. But thanks for that!
I mean, since mods are officially a part of the game, via built-in mod manager, they kind of feel less like cheating than if you had to resort to offline sites (like Nexus mods). But I totally get you, starting to mod is often jumping into a rabbit hole 😀

After finishing Alan Wake 2, I returned to Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth which I had started in January 2024. :p

It wasn't very difficult to come back, probably took a few hours to recall some features and what the story progress had been like.

I immediately noticed (and recalled) how fun the gameplay is. Be it turn-based combat (that feels very fluent in this game), mini-games, planning builds for characters, upgrading weapons, or just walking around Hawaii and completing side tasks.

I wish there were more Yakuza (now Like a Dragon) fans. The game is pure joy.

Here, I'll share this prelude to one of the boss fights. You can immediately grasp the vibe the game gives, and it's so badass (and playing with Japanese VO is a must):

POE2 Deadfire now. Last run was some years ago, a very passive tank where I just experimented in trying to make an unkillable character (it worked) but which was very boring to play I remember. Since I don't really have any other games ongoing and I know this one pretty well, it's easy to play half-invested while chatting with the wife, taking care of the boy and watching TV without losing much momentum or interest. Not that it's needed for Avowed (since it doesn't continue the story about the Watcher), but figured it would be good to jog up the old memory a bit before embarking on that adventure sometime in the future.

Inbetween taking care of my little girl and other chores, I'm playing Balatro on mobile. This game is awesome and easily my favorite indie game so far. My personal GoTY.

In rare moments when I can sit before my PC, I'm giving Dragon's Dogma 2 a second chance. Now, that it got official Polish translation, my main gripe I had with this game (an excessive use of old English) is much less annoying. Gameplay and exploration wise it's really fun game.

Before I came back to DD2, I tried Elden Ring, mostly because I wanted to see what's all the fuzz about. And I don't get it. The game is boring - there is virtually no story, the dialogues are rudimentary, quests are cryptic, open world is vast, but uninteresting. I feel like exploring one random land after another. There is no bigger thought behind them. Apparently the game is filled with rich lore, but it must be hidden very deep, because I totally don't see it. I completely fail to see George Martin's craft here.

Feeling that I haven't had enough of my current GoTY (and all-time) contender, Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, I've returned to replaying the first game.

Back to KCD1.png

While KCD1 is not on the level of its sequel at all, it still provides just enough entertainment to immerse myself in Bohemia of 1403. Also, I keep noticing many details about characters from both games, now that I know how their story continues.

Because I feel like it, I'll write down what I've been playing recently.

Monster Hunter Wilds - this is the game I spend the most time with lately. It is a fun game that tends to eat your time. Possibly game of the year for me, although that isn't saying much. I very much doubt I'll buy another game that came out this year

Diablo II: Ressurected - currently doing my Golem only challenge playthrough. As for the rest, my main Sorceress has 98 level. I never had a legit characer with level that high before. And even with Terror Zones, I can see how much time one needs to spend to level up a character to 99.

Icewind Dale: Enhanced Edition - I am doing a playthrough with sub-optimal party (attribute scores-wise). Halfling fighter (uses short swords and maces), dwarven intellectually-challenged fighter (wanted a character with voice set that uses just grunts and snarls. Uses spears and staves), dwarven priest (uses war hammers), half-elven druid (uses staves and slings), gnomish illusionist/thief (uses darts and daggers) and elven diviner (uses staves). Currently at my "beloved" part of the game, the Dragon Eye.

Sekiro: Shadow Die Twice - on my first playthrough, I am playing on my brother's copy thanks to Steam family sharing. Enjoying the game so far

Gran Blue Fantasy Versus: Rising - Playing with two of my friends

Chess - One of those friends sends me invitation to lichess.org. Being more experienced player than myself, he whoops my arse

Chess is one of those games I wish I was good at… Really fun to play, though. I worked in a restaurant once and the chef ‘ordered’ me to stay and play chess with him when we closed. We’d drink wine and play until late at night, and I was getting paid.

I had a run of this that I started (and posted here) where I created a pool of characters rolled 3d6 down the line and made a team based on that. I was diverted from that run, but intend to get back to it eventually. IWD is really underrated, I have to say.

I'm playing follow my passion. Making movies. I'm obsessed.

I also play network and make new friends on discord. Tonight I'm planning on a voice com with another machinima director from eso's creative group. He's an excellent special effects person. My fun is people. I still enjoy an axis and allies online league and goofing off with madden and providing a format for my eso guild to have a trader and safe community. luckily I have leisure availability. oh, i started a 4th book today too. lol I do that. I've been given a mission from Chief, U.S. Navy Seals, Retired: 1,2,3 4. This is the origin story of a hero. The hero is you.

'Can't hurt me' *master your mind and defy the odds* by David Goggins. I'll give you a book report next month. After my sizzle reel comes out for ZOS and friends.

discord friends me for a typing session: shmity72

BG EE multiplayer with friends! One of them has never played the first two BGs, but he loved BG3 and is familiar with old-school DnD (he was our DM when we played tabletop).

I need to figure out what to play now. I figure, I'm right around the corner from a steam sale on Subnautica Below Zero so I don't want to get too invested in anything. However, my current hitlist is:

Blind play through of Dragon Age Origins
Blind play through of the first Witcher game
Icewind Dale with a themed party and somewhat involved play log
Don't Starve Together challenge run

All of these things will likely take well over a month or so to get through, I expect. I don't want to start something I'll drop as soon as I can get SBZ. I don't really have anything a little more casual to hold me over...

I vote for the blind playthrough of Dragon Age: Origins! That one should finally click with you, unlike BG.
I was thinking about that the most (which is why it's at the top of this list), but every game is at risk for being dropped for SBZ when the sale happens. I'm also wondering if I need a little RPG break after finally grinding through BG.
