Yes. Standard psionic maze offers a save at -4. At one point Tamah, from Ascension, had a version of psionic maze. I was never sure whether that, too, offered a save, so that's the version that always scared me. I haven't seen that in years though, and you should be running Greenstone around...
Just bear in mind that good path immunity to +1 weapons will foil arrows of dispelling, so this could stop being an option in ToB, depending on your hell path choices.
The behavior of the set value mechanic is a little confusing. There are exceptions.
Carsomyr + Potion of Magic Protection will get you to 100%. Order doesn't matter.
Order does matter with items, like the Ring of Gaxx.
Maze has always been tough. It's a little tougher now with the new animation.
The best defense is to foil it in advance. Stay out of touch range, in the case of the mage spell. If you absolutely must enter touch range, then be sure to have an item based spell protection in place, like BoIS...
Ava, Halfling Swashbuckler: Fallen Paladins
After leaving the Keep, I found myself eager for some easy XP. Enter the fallen paladins.
Since I wasn't sure what would happen if I sauntered into the Order's headquarters without clearing up the Windspear Hills mess first, we swung over to...
Ava, Halfling Swashbuckler: The De'Arnise Keep
Reviewing Ava's screenshots, I arrived at an inescapable conclusion: I may be posting, but I am not catching up.
Here posts have her in the De'Arnise Keep, wherein reality she is here:
The thing to do, I think, is to properly put Ava's game...
Yes. I do the upper levels. I just haven't done the lower ones.
Long, long ago, before I knew how to play, I tried the four warders. I got my butt kicked and never went back.
Thanks, Wise!
These days I think of myself as a casual player who knows enough to get by.
In some ways your game knowledge exceeds mine, Wise. I’ve never completed Durlag’s Tower, for example. There are a few BG2 encounters that I’ve never completed too, like the WK demi-lich.
Part of me...
Ava, Halfling Swashbuckler: Mae'Var's Guild Hall (and The End of Whatever the Rock that Was)
I don't think any of you are sufficiently insane to check the dates and times of my screenshots. If, perchance one of you -or god forbid some of you- are that bonkers, you'll notice that some of these...
Ava, Halfling Swashbuckler: The Umar Hills (and Whatever the Rock that Was)
Covering Ava's SoA adventures is going to be a little awkward. I was feeling rusty -really rusty- and I was anxious to collect enough EXP to finally wear a hat. This led to a lot of dithering about in various...
There's Kangaxx and the Ravager in vanilla. With Ascension installed Melissan too.
The other issue is getting over the top of Mantles. For that purpose your Cloak of the Stars darts will suffice, though, since you don't need too many of them.
You could leave the Cloak of the Stars as is and...
Not off hand but I can look it up.
Borco and I sometimes make personal items for our characters. Maybe this could be Luke's personal item, allowing him to imbibe on the go.
Condolences, Borco. PW:S is terrifying.
That's why I've become addicted to halfling rogues and warriors. Equipping Arvoreen in the off hand every time you get near 90HP is a glorious luxury.
Ava, Halfling Swashbuckler: Early Adventures in Amn
Early mid SoA is all about the potions. Early, early SoA is all about the rings.
Historically I've prioritized the RoAC and The Victor. These days the Druid's Ring is my first acquisition.
Why? This is why.
And this.
And this.
The...
Ava, Halfling Swashbuckler: The Chateau
Having progressed Ava's coverage to the game she is actually playing, BG2, I can almost see the light at the end of the tunnel. Almost. The tunnel is long. The light, dim. I can see a few stray photons but that's more or less it.
In the interest of...
