I've debating what to do with Ava. I kind of ruined her SoA run by rushing to UAI, seeking crit protection. Part of me wants to restart her so I can do a partly RPed run.
The other issue is that my SCS settings were wrong in this run. There are a few things I'd like to tweak, most notably...
Close call, Finarfin! Glad Conan lived to fight another day!
(Ava's narrowest escape involved a golem too, although in her case it was a lack of crit protection that endangered her, not cursed wounds.)
Very cool, Finarfin! Glad to see you up and running again!
(As for Ava, she's kind of stalled out in the pocket plane. She's alive and well, but I didn't RP her enough and that caused me to lose interest in her. Sometime soon I intend to update her posts. I'm hoping that will rekindle my...
Noted! Thanks for sharing. I didn't have any first hand experience with that mechanic. I had just taken your comment at face value and used it as the basis for a comedic riff. Good to know for future reference.
That's my understanding, too. I've always filed it in the known anomaly category: an...
That's the really tragedy in all of this. If Luke had stayed true to his dart tossing roots, he'd still be with us. Instead he got drunk with power. That's not the right kind of drunk for our boy, lol.
(Btw, if you'd like to continue the run in the interest of completing Luke's story, feel...
Yes. A number of players have lost characters to that mechanic over the years. Finarfin may have been aware, actually, since he did mention the correct countermeasure in the bit you quoted.
Power Attack is dangerous, for sure.
In Ava's game I've been keeping the Sword of Arvoreen at the ready...
My approach is to grant my character an 88. If I want something higher, I need to roll for it.
(An evil wizard slayer in Ascension is just a bit too point hungry, which is why I'm allowing her a re-roller.)
Thanks, Wise! This is my wizard slayer, Ayla- partially tomed and wielding Buckley's Buckler.
(The Int is sub-optimal because I hate implausibly low Int stats and giving her the number I'd want, 13, just felt like a bridge too far. 9 is arguably a better choice. Tome to 10, give back one to the...
Thanks, Wise!
I know how to edit files in NI and, tbh, I'm already fiddling with a wizard slayer so edited. The re-roller would just be an ever so slightly more "legit" way of getting the numbers I need, if I decide to properly run her.
(I rarely worry about base stats, since they're so...
That's a good point. When I used Teleport Field, back in the day, I lifted enemies over walls all the time. I don't recall it ever happening to me, though.
For a wizard slayer I'd want a 97, and I have exactly zero interest in trying to roll that au naturel, lol. I've never used a re-roller before, but I'm def inclined to do it in this case.
(I guess I'm not even sure if there are Mac options for that, actually...)
Do you use a re-roller, Wise?
I've been thinking about running a wizard slayer, but if I am to keep the option of recruiting Balthazar open I'll need an epic roll
There's a fair number of potions of magic protection (6) and this is their ideal use case, so I wouldn't hesitate to just quaff as a prophylactic. If you waste one, you waste one. This shouldn't happen often, since you shouldn't be in touch range anyways.
