Thinking of doing a Cavalier (Torm themed) role-play Lawful Good (but not lawful stupid) party run inc. SoD, complete opposite of the Arwen and Imoen saga. Have never played a Cavalier since I was 12 I thought quite fun.
The advantage of the sorcerer over the F/M was the infinite Wish Simulacrum Project Image Timestop looping to defeat Bel solo at the end. (Heart of Fury mode though). The IWD differences to transformation make melee much more viable for pure casters than in BG where its pretty un-fun. Plus the...
Imagine if BG gave the Transformation bonuses of IWD - where you get full extra attacks from fighter levels and grand mastery BBoD as well. Fully buffed Dual wielding Transformed Sorcerer or Mage with BBoD and an offhand dagger in IWD is.... well, it ain't pretty.
It's really just a personal favourite list in somewhat descending order:
WotR
BG1
BG2
IWD1
Kingmaker
IWD2
Morrowind
Dark souls 2
Dishonoured
Thief 2
DA:O
D2
HoMM3
Painkiller
While I agree with this, I would say the "shadow party" method is the number one way to get good at NR, as it balances accountability and the ability to practice. I would liken it to the difference between a "segmented speedrun" a "whole game speedrun" - two different things obviously but...
Perhaps Alesia will forgive me for butting in, but there are a few things I can recommend/enlighten even though I am primarily a BG1 "expert".
First, and very importantly, because there are 3 level caps in the game, BG1, SoD and SoA+ToB you can rapidly over level in SoA if you are playing solo...
It was meant to be super-stupid, In part it was a completely over-done troll of the larian forums since they were all humourless grumps at the time the BG3 EA was released XD, but I got so into it I just rolled all the way through the game.
It may be your install is corrupted somehow? it's happened before with me, are you using EE? Steam, Beamdog loader, or something else; or original version?
Do you have multiple hard drives e.g. a separate SSD boot drive for your operating system? If so one game could be trying to save to a packed SSD and the other to the much larger disk drive with plenty of free space.
Excluding Durlags I reloaded a small handful of times (3-4?). Durlag's was a shitshow which is why it's super compressed - whoops. Also all Day numbers are accurate: a 65 day run.
Here's my original debrief:
Day 65 – Fratricide
Our rest was fraught – hidden in the Elfsong. This was our final chance to prepare. I remember I felt excited – filled with giddy anticipation. Happy. Angry. Vengeful. Ecstatic. I slept fitfully, dreaming of blood. The dark figure is clearer now and I know that she is me – I...
Day 64 – Jailbreak Rock
In the end it was Tethoril who freed us. I apologise for calling him a creepy old man! Sarevok’s plan was to set us up as “Assassins of Amn,” Shadow Thieves perhaps – He’s trying to provoke a war between Baldur’s Gate and Amn. Not something I care all that much about –...
Day 63 – Bring the Pain
Second stop: Iron Throne HQ. I was so excited, this is to be everything we had worked towards. We trick out way upstairs.
sneaky assault on the big boss house
And unleash fiery death upon the top floor. No survivors. My wrath is bottomless. There were dopplegangers...
Day 62 – Our Triumphant Return.
We casually stroll back into Baldur’s Gate after the hardest 13 days of our lives (most of which was walking to and from the stupid tower). Durlag’s Tower is breached, the treasure is filling my pockets. We are rich beyond our wildest dreams. Powerful too...
Day 49 – Shipping and Receiving.
We dossed around in Baldur’s gate for a couple of days, killed some necromancers (good), a basilisk (good) some people (good), stole some valuable stuff (yay), including a book to make me even more smarter, and another to make me more, um, “dexterous,” plus we...
