This thread is for people to record their adventures in the Trilogy. Play on any difficulty that you want with any mods that you want. Just say what they are at the beginning of your run.
Feel free to add historic posts. I'm not familiar with how to do it, so I will leave that side with those who are. Have fun everyone.

********************************

To offer a continuation in the tradition of the Beamdog forum no-reload community (and the old Bioware forum before that) and thread, cross-posting is welcome and encouraged.

My current run is on Core difficulty with just one Mod: Xan's New Groove. In addition I have modded Candlekeep so that the assassins have the items in that mod.

I am playing an enchanter as Xan with the stats that I have rolled. They are remarkably good. Gorion has just been killed. I have given a sword and armour to Imoen and have left her at the ambush site. Hopefully that equipment will keep her safe.

Journal of Xan Continued

Being a Moonblade wielder, finding that my Moonblade had been stolen by a thief whilst I slept filled me with dread. Fortunately I came across the thieves before they had a chance to flee Candlekeep and I recovered my possessions once they were slain.

The items that I recovered were an amulet and a buckler.

Xan004.jpg

Xan006.jpg
The buckler is only usable by non-chaotic elves.

Gorion and I fled Candlekeep but we were ambushed and Gorion was slain.

I fled from Gorion's killers stopping only to pick up a diamond and a couple of rings before clearing the FAI of hobgoblins.

Heading North, I killed Sonner and his cohorts before returning Tenya's bowl and killing an ankheg. :)
Xan013.jpg

Xan014.jpg

I reached Beregost and headed south.

Using sleep and charm spells proved to be an excellent way forward as I proceeded to the Nashkel Mines.

Sadly the guards killed Greywolf before I got the chance to do it myself. :'(

Xan017.jpg

A belt protected me from the winter wolf spells. :)

Xan019.jpg

When I met up with Prism again he sadly died.

I reunited Albert and his dog and then went on to escort Samuel to the FAI. :)

My reputation increased when I returned Joia's ring.

To the south I acquired a belt of piercing.

I then returned the Colquetle amulet, calmed down Marl and took a tome to Firebead.

I then helped Mellicamp get back into shape and in so doing reached level4.

Ankheg hunting was next on the agenda.

Xan035.jpg

Xan036.jpg

Xan037.jpg
A visit to the basilisk area was next.
Xan038.jpg

Xan039.jpg
Xan040.jpg
Xan041.jpg
This resulted in me reaching level 6. :)

25 HPs for a lvl 6 Xan, not bad at all.
Of course, unlike the Xan supplied by Bioware, mine had a con roll of 8 rather than 7, but yes it is pretty good. It will get even better when I get the elven armour supplied by "Xan's New Groove which is in the chest at the bottom of the mine." I'm not sure quite what it does but HPs certainly get increased. When he gets stoneskin he will be quite a fighter.

After picking up Xzar and Montaron, Montaron supplied me with a charisma boosting cloak that he "found" in Beregost. At the FAI Tarnesh was unwise enough to pick a fight with us.

Xan063.jpg

Inside we were given some potions to help with poison and a pair of sexy pantraloons which I cannot wear. :( All we got from Dorn was insults. He changed his attitude somewhat when we showed him how to fight south of Nashkel.

Xan065.jpg

After joining us we gained revenge for him after which Branwin and Neera joined us. Meilum was not really a challenge and neither were Rogdok or those who wanted the bodies of Neera and Adoy.

Xan067.jpg

Upon returning to Beregost Silke was dewalt with comfortably even though we had replaced Neera and Dorn with the Inquisitor Ajantis and invoker Dynaheir.

Xan068.jpg

Inside the nearby inn we killed Karlat before returning Perdue's Sword.

Xan069.jpg

We didn't need the potions when we cleared some spiders, and were rewarded handsomely when we returned Landrin's possessions.

Mulahey was dealt with easilly after being silenced.

Xan073.jpg

Outside the Amazons were held with web and killlled with fireballs and skull traps.

Breanwen was hurt during the killing of the Revenant.

Xan074.jpg

We cleared the other caves easilly before going in search of the bandits.

Xan075.jpg

We killed Deke and Tranzig before returning.

Am always surprised that no one had done those Multiclasses at the bottom, but most of them I can understand. Still salty about my Dark Moon Monk, forever trapped in limbo facing off against Ascension Amelyssan.

Ajantis thought it rather dishonourable that we webbed Taurgosz before killing him with fireballs and skull traps. Not being paladins, the rest of us were more pragmatic.

Xan077.jpg

I was rather amused at Jaheira's question here.

Xan078.jpg

The battle in the tent wasn't easy.

Xan079.jpg

We replaced Ajantis with Montaron since Ajantis isn't good at opening chests, Montaron being replaced with Coran in Cloakwood since Montaron is a bit bloodthirsty.

We then collected our reward in Nashkel before returning to Cloakwood where we killed some druids.

Minsc was delighted with a sword that we found.

Xan083.jpg

The wyverns were tough opponents.

Xan085.jpg

After getting our reward we took on Droth and Shoal.

Xan087.jpg

We killed some nearby sirines, Dynaheir being charmed by them. In turn I tried to charm her but without ssuccess. We therefore departed and waited for the sirenes' spell to wear off.

I have a Cleric/Ranger in a similar position (no LoB though, like your Monk). Anomen, Jaheira and Mazzy all abandoned her in the final battle, which I attributed to a bug. I later realized that my Cleric/Ranger had given some of the evil answers in her conversations with the Solar in the Pocket Plane. Do you know if this caused her companions to bail on her? (BTW My C/R didn't fall or lose any reputation though).

@WiseGrimwald nice progress with your Xan!

I quite like the Priest of Helm, so may well try it next.
Are you supposed to do it solo, or can you do it with a party?
I normaly play my games with a party once my PC has a little experience under his belt.
I like the interaction between party members.

^^ strange, I don' know the "routes" in Ascension very well so can't shed any light. Did you have any other ending modifying mods installed (Wheels of Prophecy comes to mind)

I do know the routes vaguely (I think one of Charname's answers was a bit blunt, and it resulted in her getting +25% damage reduction shortly before the final battle, which turned out to be an evil reward). I always have Wheels of Prophecy installed, but I'm not aware of it making any changes to NPCs' behaviour.

I quite like the Priest of Helm, so may well try it next.

Priest of Helm rocks, it's become one of my favorite kits (both RP-wise and mechanically).

If a successful no-reload game was solo, it's specified in the list, same as mods, difficulty setting etc.

Solo seems to be more the exception than the rule. The list of missing kits and classes is just so that we can see which type of main character hasn't ever finished the game in no-reload, either because it's unpopular or difficult, and it doesn't matter if it was with a party to cross a class from that list. That way, ambitious people might want to try one of those remaining on the list for the extra kicks.

In that case, when Xan dies I might try a Helmite Priest. I don't think that Xan will reach Amn as I haven't sussed out SoD yet.

I couldn't believe it. I tried a Helmite Priest run and tried to help Mellicamp against the wolf. I used three command spells but the wolf survived. Used Imoen's wand and got the wolf to near death. Seconds later the priest was dead. :( Most unusual to die so quickly.

Back to Xan who is doing very well at the Gate. He is now about to take on the Iron Throne.

Hey everyone. Currently still not playing BG, but I will certainly return at some point - just letting you know that I'm still there and keeping up with the no-reload community while we once again have to change our forum of choice :)

I have actually attempted two more undocumented runs a few months ago - after my success with SCS+Ascension on Tactical Diffiulty, I thought that the next logical step would be to try the same on Insane (I've tried so before, dying to Yuan-Ti mages in De'Arnise keep). Both times, I made good progress throughout BG1 and SoD, with failure coming early in BG2, every time due to facing some type of unexpected sequencer - I simply don't know 100% which mages have access to seventh level spells on my settings and which don't, which can be a huge problem. Sadly, slowly working my way through BG1 and SoD only to fail in SoA again has been a bit frustrating, which is one of the reasons why I'm currently taking a break.

Good luck to everyone here!
