And then this one as well...
I appreciated the simplicity and repetition, but also how it just kinda catches and sticks there. Like it's pretty impressive when one can combine a number of very familiar elements in that way, to achieve something that will having me humming it afterwards. I'd say in the shower cause it's the classic, but for me it was making frozen waffles in the kitchen, but like if that lego eggo was going to be all determining the fate of the imperium. Or like to get a fragment that can basically make any given shot of people walking into a room to seem like super consequential, as if everything was turning on it. When I dig stuff that has that pop to it, I feel like it's important to applaud a bit, so as not to fall into the cynicism of everything always seeming kinda mid and disappointing when it hits broadly. The last time I caught a similar hook for a score in might have been like that soundtrack to the marco polo show with the mongolian throat singing. Or way before that, maybe the Ravenous score, that I always enjoy returning to. Had a similar vibe for me here. Not that random words or extra scaffolding on top of the music is going to color ones impression, or that dissociating it from the actual visuals in whatever given shot always works. But in this case, the heavy lifting was right there for me. Like I'm doing laundry now, it's still pretty epic echoing in the background.
