Yep, I agree, it's a tough enemy. It has an insane Armor Class, a lot of resistances, and some nasty attacks. It can kill a party member in just one turn.
But it has some weaknesses. Even though its regular AC is crazy high, its Touch AC on the other hand is really low: an 11, to be precise. So I just hit it with Touch attacks, like the Angel Mythic path ability called Close to the Heavens. That's what I killed it with, but I used a lot of other similar attacks as well.

The Wildcards, that's for sure. An interesting NPC, a new race, and also a new class.

Varnhold's Lot is supposed to be an interesting side-story, but because it's not incorporated into the main game, I never could figure out when to play it.

Beneath the Stolen Lands is a side roguelite dungeon.

I agree with @Antimatter: The Wildcards is a must, imo. New race, class AND quests.
Varnhold's Lot - you can play it at least once before begining of Act 4: 'The Varnhold Vanishing' so you will be able to import data from one of your DLC saves into your main game at the beginning of Act 4.
Beneath the Stolen Lands is a source of nice items. I see at it as a some kind of Endless Paths of Od Nua from Pillars of Eternity.

Thank you for the recommendations. ❤️

Gosh, it’s hard being a grownup today. I really just want to leave work, go home, make a pot of coffee, stack a plate of cookies, and play games all day. I’m starting to think my calling in life should have been to be a trust fund baby. Did the stork make a mistake??? Do I really belong to a wealthy family??? This working for a living thing just won’t do. 😂

Hi all.

Minimal/No Reloads of Owlcat's Games, Themed Playthrough, Videos, Showing off, anything and everything Pathfinder cRPG

--

Taking a break from Infinity Engine Games I have recently started an "Informative Playthrough" of Pathfinder: Kingmaker in a Minimal Reload style. Basically I love this game. I talk a lot about why it is super good and how cool it is and mostly about mechanics and combat encounters and that sort of stuff. As a "spiritual successor" to Baldur's Gate 1 and 2 it is ripe for No/Minimal Reloading. I have never actually No-reloaded (Last Azlanti Mode-ed) the whole game but I am far too caught up in playing around with stuff and enjoying recording some videos.

The videos are very much in the Mivsan_NT style (though no where near as good) if anyone has enjoyed his excellent completionist SCS playthrough.

Introduction:
1 hour and 30 minutes of pure character creation:
Prologue/Tutorial:

Bonus Content No reload run through the prologue on Unfair:

Anyway, apart from the Infinity engine games the Owlcat ones are the only way for me to get my RTwP fix. So much fun. Happy Gaming RPG crew.

I realize I am answering to a 3 years old post but I really want to say thank you for those videos, they are a treasure to dig through.
I thought I will get Wrath of the Righteous because I have always preferred BG2 to BG1 too, but now I think Kingmaker is worth playing too.
The only thing for hesitation is the long time, and timers.
I am okay with timers in strategy, time is part of management. I'm not sure if I want them in RPG.

Anyway, those videos will inform and entertain me for a few days. Thank you very much.

From an indie game developer to a publisher. A great move!

Today, we have exciting news for everyone who loves narrative-driven video games — Owlcat Games is embarking on a new quest to help other studios as a publisher. We will work with teams that share our passion for telling captivating stories through narrative-driven games. Together we want to deliver new, exciting experiences, akin to what we as a studio aim to create ourselves. After reviewing more than 50 projects, we have signed deals with two talented development teams — Emotion Spark Studio, based in Serbia, and Another Angle Games, based in Poland. Emotion Spark Studio is working on a narrative RPG called @RueValley. It is a story about a man trapped in a mysterious time loop, who faces his mental challenges to uncover the origins of the anomaly. Another Angle is creating a turn-based isometric RPG set in an alternate feudal Japan called Shadow of the Road @sotr_game. It is an immersive story about samurai, honor, and allegiance, combined with a deep tactical turn-based combat system in a world filled with magical yokai and deadly steampunk technology. Both games are still in the early stages of development, and we will share more information about them later this month. Stay tuned!

Games they mention:

Trying to get back into RPGs again so giving this one a try. Would have started with the first one but I hear these games are really long, so having limited time, I am going for the one that is rated higher by players. Spent a couple of hours in character creation alone, just went with whatever I felt like. I really like the amount of customisability that these evolved games are starting to offer, definitely got a lot more freedom here than I did with Deadfire. I hope I will be able to enjoy this.

Welcome and best of luck with your run! I just (last Friday) finished my Last Azlanti run of Kingmaker at last (after two or maybe even three years...) and now storming through WoTR too with my Sylvan Sorcerer. Looking forward to see how your Overwhelming Soul will fare there!

Almost half a year later, I dropped this game for a while since I was busy with irl stuff but picked it back up a week or so ago. Tried out a few different builds and made it through the prologue, but I felt like I added too many mods to the game which added a bunch of extra stuff that was confusing and some that even felt out of place. So I disabled most of the mods except some fixes and quality of life stuff, and now I'm restarting a fresh run with the following character. I have got a better idea of the gameplay now as well. It seems to be quite a learning curve for a beginner since a lot of the stuff albeit somewhat similar to higher editions of D&D still feels a whole lot different in practice.

I'm going to focus on pure fire and blue flame energy blasts and take ascendant element to wipe out fire resistant enemies, though vulnerability hex is going to be very helpful in that regard as well, especially early game. I also have a party in mind this time: Ember (Stigmatized Witch 4/Oracle 6/Mystic Theurge 10), Lann (Zen Archer 3/Winter Child 17), Nenio (pure Scroll Savant 20), Daeran (pure Oracle 20), and Woljif (Eldritch Scoundrel 4/Vivisectionist 16). Definitely a very caster heavy party but that's because I like magic a lot. I'm also playing with the scaling cantrips mod just so I can have some fun. Hopefully Woljif and summons will be able to tank and keep the aggro, while my kineticist main can focus on DPS, well at least that's the plan for now.

I ended up selecting Drovier for Lann instead of Winter Child, and wow the animal companion is just so good, works like a full-fledged character with level progression instead of just a support pet unlike in most games that I've played. He's holding the frontline pretty well and the trip ability is quite amazing. And I'm surprised to see that he can even equip certain items including bracers and potions. I didn't expect that but it does bring a smile to my face.

A pet build for Lann is a good choice, and overall, you have a good party planned. Divine Hound could be another choice. However, I've never been able to fully understand kineticists, so props to you for doing them.

I'm (re)playing WotR as well with the MC being a War Priest. Seelah has dips in Monk, Witch, and Dragon Disciple for amazing AC additions. Wenduag is a Shapeshifter (Manticore). Ember has a Loremaster level for the Hideous Laughter spell. Daeran stays as Oracle. I initially used Woljif (same idea as you have, about 16 lvls in Vivi instead of continuing in his initial class), but when the game took Woljif from me for some time in Chapter 2, I got used to using Camelia, liking her a lot (full Shaman).

I first thought kineticists were akin to the D&D warlock, but they play out a bit differently in Pathfinder rules it seems. My impression so far is that they are kinda like a throwing class except they are throwing pure elements manifested into a raw physical form. It's better to treat them as archers with DPS blaster roles in that regard. The difference seems to be that these blasts are treated as spell like abilities if they are energy based (like fire or frost or electricity) so they have to overcome spell resistance, but on the plus side, they work against touch AC instead of regular AC, and also bypass physical damage reduction. Physical blasts (like earth, water, air) however bypass spell resistance, but they have to face the much higher regular AC and also physical damage reduction. It seems it's better to focus on either type of blast and build your character accordingly. These however are not regular attacks and consume a full standard action so you can only cast one blast per round unless with special feats, so I guess the additional attacks from BAB progression don't help, EXCEPT if you use the Kinetic Blade infusion where you wield the "blast" like a sword instead of throwing it, so that lets you attack with your BAB's extra attacks, and it seems people have made really strong builds with it since the damage from the blast scales very well and it's like using a turbo-buffed melee weapon. (I might try that build later, perhaps with earth and water since they have better defensive abilities).

The wild talents are kinda like warlock invocations I guess? Then you have infusions that are about modifying your basic blast attack to do other stuff like creating a ball of energy, a cloud that damages those in it, damaging terrain, a wall of force, and so on, and those inherit the damage type of your chosen element, and other infusions that apply special effects or debuffing abilities to your blasts. There seems to be a lot of fun combinations and things that can be done, but what I like most about it, is that the resources for doing cool stuff are almost infinite provided you are managing your burn appropriately. (I kinda end up getting drawn to these types of classes, same reason why I have been playing as a cipher in Pillars of Eternity, though this class seems to be more fun and faster paced in my opinion.)

So far it's a lot of fun, and it feels more spellcasteresque than real spellcaster classes who all have to end up relying on physical weapons eventually when their spells run dry while the kineticist just uses its sheer prowess of manipulating the raw elements without regards to magical laws or the favour of deities, which I feel is extremely cool.

Now that was satisfying. I love that the game allows you to do something like this.

Was it optimal in the face of a demonic invasion? Maybe not. I don't even know what the future ramifications of this choice would be. But did it feel good? Hell yeah, it was amazing. 10/10 would do it again.

Even though Ember will surely object that, but every single person who would hurt her should face a consequencies!

BTW I don't know what are your plans for Seelah but I strongly recommend to take a dip on Sable Company Marine (one level dip is enough). Hippogriff animal companion is just amasing and you might be able to focus her more on offence rather than tanking role is this case.
